Spacer Question

OK, so I have read every thread about spacers but have some confusion. Currently on my 340i drive I am running my summer set up. I have OEM 437m wheels which are 19x9 front and 19x10 rear and I love the stance. My winter wheels are a square set up 19x8.5...My question is would I do any damage by just putting a 15mm spacer on the wheel to get a better stance? Would that ruin the square setup or is that still considered square considering the tires are all the same size. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Square setup means the rims and tires are the same width. Running a spacer will push the wheel out 15mm. Only possible damage would be hub bearing failure and potentially vibration issues from the spacers. For winter, its usually best to keep the wheels UNDER the car as much as possible to minimize slush and dirt debris from being slung along the side of the car.

19s in the winter in Pitts PA, ouch. good luck.

I don't really drive the car when there is snow on the road and they clear the roads extremely quick here, I use my SUV when weather is bad and I work from home so thats a plus. But 19's work fine, I have always ran 19s in winter

Not to thread jack, but is it better to run on smaller rims during the winter?

I always do, 2" smaller wheels for winter tires!

For example 19" summer and 17" winter for my 3 Series and 20" summer and 18" winter for my 5 Series.
