Cruise Control Braking
One thing I find really annoying about my cruise control is that when I'm going down hill the car actually slows down below the set speed and stays below until it flattens or goes up hill.
I really would like it to coast and go above the set speed, but I would be ok if it just held the set speed down a hill. Is this normal? Is there any way to change the behavior? I have 544A "Cruise Control with Braking", and not 5DF "Active Cruise control" |

Wouldn’t be much of a cruise control if it went over? If it bugs you just disengage it and the resume?

Yes, thanks for the helpful replies. I realize it has the ability to brake, but that doesn't mean the system should go 42 down a minor decline when the speed is set to 45.

It's the same when you are turning if you set it for 65 and you turn the car is going to slow down depending how hard the turn is

I personally think the CC with braking feature is really nice. I used to use it a lot going up and down hills and it seemed to be pretty aggressive about keeping the car at the set speed via braking or downshifting (on an old E60). |

For obvious reasons, it will favor the low side, not the high side, which is the way it should work. |

I understand you don't have Active Cruise Control, but with Active Cruise Control you can prevent the application of brakes by applying at least 1% throttle. Perhaps try pressing the throttle the smallest amount.

I drove Chevy trucks that does exactly what you were expecting...
Driving down a hill at 110km/h and it would go way beyond, like 120-130km/h... IMO, it was the most stupid thing ever because if a cop is down the road, you get pulled over even though you were using cruise control... I prefer BY FAR the German cars cruise control that actual keep the speed you set it up to!! |
