You should be able to upgrade to the 8.8" screen without any issues.

Another Classic Realoem retrofit screwup. These are much more common than you would think.

Even though the it shows the new is exchangeable with the old in your post, when you look at the old number you see it correctly states it is NOT exchangeable.

That is correct as the voltage changed with the newer units.

This is also why you need to check both part numbers on realoem and further research if any discrepancies.

It seems you have HU_ENTRYNAV, which should support a larger screen. The head unit started production in 11/2014 for cars without nav, however, some got it earlier (if they had standard nav = business nav).

In order to be 100% sure, get an ENET cable ($20 on eBay) and check via eSys software. More info on the coding forum, or PM me for details. You'll need the cable anyway if you want to install the larger screen, so you might as well get it first.

The pre-LCI screen (9292248) should work 100%. However, I've also successfully retrofitted the LCI screen (9387453) on my 08/2015 HU_ENTRYNAV (see my post for comparision photos).

No need for cable change and/or emulators.

Your car should have the suitable head unit (HU_ENTRYNAV). In order to be 100% sure, get an ENET cable/adapter ($20 on eBay) and eSys software (check the coding forums) with which you can validate what head unit you have.

After checking your head unit, get one of these two screens on eBay and follow the instructions at the beginning of this thread to retrofit it.

MarkoSK: A quick question as I found a cheaper X5 10,25" screen on fleabay, can this be also fitted (coded) with some trimming on the HU_ENTRYNAV?

Unit: 9347878-03

Again thank you for your awesome support. (nvrmind as i found out it only fits on to a NBT unit.)

HU_ENTRYNAV works with a 10.25" screen (you just code the proper resolution), some have retrofitted it. However, I can't guarantee that particular screen would work - I think yes, but I can't guarantee it. If you can buy it with some sort of return policy, try it out and if it won't work, return it.

Amazing - let us know how well it fits... I have similar wishes :-)

You do need to modify the back plastic to make it fit at all though, but should be possible.

Hello BMW Experts!

It was an ordeal, but I got my big 8.8" 7453 screen in & working! The 2626 wouldn't work.

Knocked out all screen functions initially, but now all works.

Story here:

Best, Murf
