How did you connect it and on wich car?

Both on newer 1 series and 3 series the screen will get flickering as soon as the engine is running when connected to te reverse light without relay.

F30 328i.

The instructions in the package are as follow: "do not connect it to the reverse light"

So I didnt :P

I just connected the red wire (attached to the yellow rca cable that you run) to the head unit red cable (says camera power or something). Connect the other side to the red (positive) cable from the camera and connect the black to a chassis ground. Works fine.

I Just traded in my X5 for a 328i GT and no longer need my AVIN unit . I literally just bought this about 1 month ago and have Apple Car Play , Car Video.

The Front Video integration is awesome and seamlessly integrates right into the mirror on my X5.

I really loved this unit

Yes, you plug your phone into the CarPlay auto box from Avin USA site.

Can someone tell me if the voice command functionality still work after installation of this unit?
Since the voice command button on steeringwheel will be remapped to navigation.
Any feedback is highly appreciated

I just read the whole thread and I want to know if the Generation 2 is still buggy like the Generation 1 (F30 variant).

im getting fairly close to buying this unit, is it recommended for the uses I want? Im just trying to update my non navi 6.5 screen to the bigger one and use the OEM side of the system and Apple carplay

I have the Gen2 unit and it hasnt crashed ever. That means that the new installed heatsinks fixed that crashing problem that people reported at the beginning.

my PROS:
1. The screen is huge and it is beautiful.
2. Navigation/traffic (Waze)
3. Streaming music (Spotify/Pandora).
4. I had to remove a lot of stuff that came with the unit: dvd, easyconnection (for apple car), etc. It made the unit a lot faster and responsive. Also changed the launcher to automate.

My CONS:
1. My bluetooth connection doesn't work.
2. The GPS antenna is really slow. It takes about ~5min to lock position and maybe even more. I ordered a garmin gps antenna from amazon with the adapter cables and we will see. I need to know if this is a hardware or software related problem.
3. The unit can't handle 3-4 apps at the same time. Be prepared to deal with some lag.
4. As stated yesterday you loose voice command from the steering wheel. It is now mapped to navigation.
5. MY split screen does nothing when in iDrive. It only shows my fuel tank in liters and my speed in km/h. Useless but who cares... Im only in iDrive when changing the radio.
6. There's a radio app in the unit but it does nothing for me. No clue what to configure.

The CONS list may be longer, but Im ok with it. Pretty sure some software related stuff will get fixed eventually.

you have to disable them in app settings

What is the average temperature in your area at this time of the year? I am just worried that during summertime where I live can get up to 110°F.
