Motor Swap B46 to B58 (Blown B46 at 22k miles)
F30 (2018 330i)
I have a blown motor at 22k after a "coolant low" light and 5 trips to the dealership. The mechanics could not identify a blown head gasket causing the coolant leak. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I love this car; it has been in the garage for almost a year. I want to get this car back on the road with much more oomph behind it. The current motor is the B46 - (super-ultra low emission vehicle (SULEV) version of the B48) My original thought was if the block wasn't damaged, I could bore out the cylinders and replace the internals. Since I will remove the motor anyway, I am considering swapping the B46 with a B58. What other motors would you all recommend and why? Does anyone have any insight on doing something like this in the past? |
