New Z4 revealed at last!
https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/n...-boxster-rival
Not quite as sexy looking as the concepts, but not bad. The technical stuff sounds very good though: stiffer than the M4, double wishbone suspension, less than 1500kg, LSD, and future M variant using M2 competition pack engine...

Awesome. Cant wait to hear a reputable drivers comparion review between the Z4 and 718.
I rrreally like the new 718 and in base configuration, isnt that far out of reach for a lot of people looking for a pure sports car. |

I test drove the 718S a couple of months ago. Handles great, but the engine robs it of character and soul, for a car that expensive. The BMW 40i engine sounds immense in comparison, so if it's good dynamically, even if not quite as good as the Boxster, then the engine would swing it for me.

So much for the 385bhp we have been hearing. If this z4 m40i is 335bhp why should be think the m340i will be any different?
Edit: other sources quoting 382bhp, which is it?! |

This is a really strange one, the front end from straight on or even from an angle at low level looks like a Fiat 124! But from higher up, i.e. the angle you’d always see it when standing or in another vehicle, it looks bloody fantastic! I think because you then see how the headlights extend rearwards.
Side and rear looks bloody fantastic from any angle though! |

Ah so it's got the B58 in the mid spec one that's coming first. Makes sense. Then bring out a budget one then a performance one. The early adopters will probably swap out to the performance one too.
Kinda rings true with the whole "supra b58" theory. |

WLTP seems to be hammering the performance in Europe. Europe will get 335, rest of world 385.

Having a six cylinder engine would be a huge differentiator if I was in the market for a 2-seater. The 718 may have the handling but I wouldn't pay that sort of money for a 4-pot; may as well get an MX-5.

Still waiting for Toyota to put theirs on the table.
Although they are one short at the moment. I believe Toyota will be better than BMW with the shared platform venture. |

I was hoping for something a bit 'wow' but it's not doing it for me. Perhaps it'll look better in the flesh? Those black air scoops below the grille look a bit stuck on to be honest. Without those the front would be a lot cleaner.
