How do I get the new transmission flash?
I flashed my car about 3 months ago and the only transmission flash that was available was for M cars. There's now a flash non M cars? Edit: is this it? View post on imgur.com |

Found it on the app yesterday, had to try it out!
Results. *Faster more defined shifts *overall more solid feeling from the gearbox *holds gears in manual mode *more aggressive engagement from standstill So far im loving this!

We are all having problems that at that point you have to step on more than 87% of the pedal to change gears and PTF, it helps us by sending a file to test if the error has been fixed, which is simply to modify the accelerator map. A greeting. |

Ok, so while heading home today i encountered a situation where i needed to apply a lot of throttle to get up to speed. As i pushed the accelerator down firmly the car went forward slowly, so i pushed it all the way down triggering the kickdown button, it took like 3-5 sec before the car even reacted.
Luckily nothing happened except butthole clenched

Is the harder gear shifting bad of the transmission?
Also - do most BM3 users reflash whenever there's an update? |

It's my (albeit rudimentary) understanding that the quicker shifts are actually better for the transmission. Smooth shifts means a slipping and prolonged engagement of the clutches and valves, whereas quick shifts just get it over with, wearing less on certain parts. That's at least how I've heard it explained by some people about other transmissions, I'd assume the same is true for our ZF8, and it does make sense.

Finally did the trans flash today and the shifting at low RPM is night and day better. Before it was sloppy and long to shift and now it just slides right in without any hesitation. Haven’t driven far but I did notice in comfort mode I went WOT around 20mph and the delay before the car picked up concerningly long as it down shifted the gears. Hopefully the car just learning. Overall first impression is good.
