Launch control broke tab and rear right drive shaft

Hello, I have a x3m40i, in posting here since there's more 340i than x3.

I got new tires, Michelin 4s and now when I launch my car around 3000rpm, I get zero wheel spin.

After a few launches, I heard a clunk noise and then found out that I had a broken left rear suspension tab and the rear right drive shaft was torn.

Anyone ever break any parts by using launch control on a modded or stock car?

Should this be covered under warranty?

I run 265 in the rear and 255 in front.

On a stock car, yes.

But the tune and wider/stickier tires can technically void the warranty on drivetrain stuff. You're putting more wear on the transmission, axles, etc. By mounting wider and stickier tires. Sometimes wheel spin is protecting your car even if the performance suffers a bit.

If you have a good relationship with your dealer, then they may cover it.

Broken tab upper left tab, car changing lanes by itself at speeds over 55mph every time I went on a bump on the highway, vibration rear right upon acceleration.

Sorry to hear.

What tune you running? Now I'm a bit worried to launch my car since I have the same car and am tuned.

I'm sure it's because of his tire setup. I wouldn't worry about the tune doing this.

So my tires can brake my drive shaft and tabs because they're too sticky? Should I go back to maybe the Michelin pilot 4 suv like the new x3m size or maybe the bridge stones?

No, really doesn't matter what rubber you have. I have the PS4S (20s) on the BM3 Stage 2 93. Just stick with the OEM sizes and you'll be fine.

Launch control is hard on any vehicle just FYI.

Doesn't the difference in size affect the transfer case and not the drive shaft? Let me know. I'm around at 0.9% in difference. I heard that the size tolerance is 1%.

The tune is certainly calling for more TQ than the stock tune and bigger tires are just moving the forces from tire slipage to axels and suspension components. The dealer will surely check for computer tampering just as a matter of bringing it in for service. I had a battery die in my combox and they reflashed my DME because it was running an unauthorized image. I didn't dream in a million years they would that for a COMBOX error but they did. I had to pay to get it reflashed (pre bootmod3 years)
