Badge replacement.
Hello. I have a 2018 440i GC MPPSK in black sapphire and am currently ordering matte black front lip and diffuser as well as OEM gloss black kidneys and a black trunk spoiler. I also have the OEM style carbon fiber with black metal exhaust tips. (OEM is silver with carbon)
Considering my car will be fully chrome deleted, I can't decide what to do with my rear badges. I have done the matte black badge on my old 428i but that kind of looks ricey imo, maybe partial because i already had that on a less desirable car. I also have seen them in gloss black which may be a good option. I'm looking for peoples opinion on the following: 1. Using the gunmetal/black updated M440i badge (without the M) 2. Getting a "B58" badge with the M coloring like this: https://www.newjerseybimmers.com/pro...al-metal-black A full debadge probably looks best IMO but I want to distinguish my car from the 435i. I know it's stupid and most enthusiasts can tell the difference a mike away but just a personal thing. Any opinions or photos of setups y'all might have would be appreciated. Thanks!

welcome. the bottom line is it's your car so do whatever you want with it.
i personally did the debadge look on my first car which was a GTI but now being a little older i tend to lean towards what could be a more factory look now. here's a picture of my car, '18 440i w/MPPSK, with the g22 badge swap. my tech designer brain won't allow the old chrome xdrive logo to be situated next to the updated matte badges so i'll be switching that over to the new one once those become available. Do what you like, as everyone has a different opinion. Personally, I always recommend a full debadge.

Of course will do what I like regardless!! The problem is I have a hard time deciding what I like 😭 so seeing other setups helps. After seeing the above 440i with the updated badge I think I will be going with that minus the M.

But on F3x's it tends to be guys with low end models. Again just my opinion, it looks kinda foolish to be debadged with just a plain single or dual exhaust pipe poking out the left side. Maybe add a little rear spoiler or something for looks, but I'd avoid debadging myself. |

I've always been badge curious - from when I was sat in the back of my Pop's E21. Most BMW drivers drive BMWs because they're BMWs.
For me, de-badging the 'daddy' cars is a no-no - this would be full fat M-cars and range topping petrol and diesel cars, as these are the cars people de-badge to make their look like. People generally de-badge because they want to make their car look like a better/bigger engined model so going the other way makes no sense to me. Also, those who know the boss badges (335/340) don't try to get fresh like they would with a 318. Is it vanity? Of course! And why not?

If you can't afford a bigger car you shouldnt try to make it look-alike. Thats kinda douche and forces some other folks to bring some backlash for you - especially the M-fake-badge-dudes.
Nontheless, at least its your car, your money and your taste, but you shouldnt expect to got applauded by others for pretending for somewhat which it isnt. I'd bought by M4 Comp debadged and this was ok for me, I dont care about others low or big powered engines, thats just beyond my age

Debadging is a personal decision which can find countless justifications, ranging from streamlined bodywork, as I'm inclined to think less is better, and who do you think you'd be fooling anyways? Definitely not the hardcore automotive enthousiasts. I also see another reason to proceed with debadging, and it has to do, with theft: a debadged high-end M /S /AMG vehicle will definitely attract much less attention, and if theft is a real concern on high end models, then debadging, among other measures, such as comfort access delete, kill switchs, steering wheel and throttle locks, to name a few might help, with this in mind.
Personally, I prefer to keep a low key profile, and to each their taste. |

It looks cleaner but I debadged because I'm going to do a chrome delete. I had found a site where you can get the badging in black and carbon fiber but I lost the page.

Im talking about some drivers which try at any cost to make their cars to look for something they arent. At this point and from some point of views the new 4 series isnt a M440i, even BMW badges them as they are. Nontheless, the badging looks clean and nice.
