Resonator & Muffler Delete

Interested in doing a muffler and res delete on my 435xi. I also have the MPE installed and wondering what kind of drone i will experience if doing these two deletes and if it will really be that bad. Or if doing one is better than the other, looking for some real sound and pops!

Wondering the same thing.. have the MPE installed but want to delete the resonator. Did this on my E39 V8 and the drone was unbearable, had to install a high flow resonator.

IIRC the resonator helps reduce raspiness of the exhaust, while the muffler helps reduce overall loudness.

Lol muffler delete will mean you remove the MPE. The resonator will only add drone. Don't remove that. With the MPE, adding a catless or HFC will get you the pops you want with no drone.

Thanks for the advice, any reccomendations on brands for HFC im assuming your talking about a downpipe?

Yes downpipe. It replaces the section of pipe with the cat. Midpipe is section of exhaust under the passenger cabin. Axleback is rear axle to the tips.

A straight pipe would be any section of pipe that is straight-through with no obstructions like a resonator or muffler baffling. In this case the catless downpipe is essentially a straightpipe.

How does a downpipe look in terms of warranty?

Not sure as I've always avoided the dealer and do a lot of diy. You'd have to ask your service manager.

Plus, if you have to deal with state inspections then there's also that, as well.

Luckily i dont have to deal with state inspections so ill look into it with a service provider

Since you already have MPE and you want more sound i recommend an aggressive setup like catless downpipe + REMUS axle back (stock midpipe)

I have a resonator delete and a removable muffler delete that I never put on because it made the drone unbearable. I currently run a vrsf catless and resonator delete and it sounds perfect.

I removed my resonator (have MPE axle back), no drone.

I have a catless downpipe with no muffler and it drones incredibly bad. It rattles the plastic in the cabin. It sounds incredible when under high load though

Do you get lots of pops and crackles when you let off the gas?

Not like the catless bois where it's literally a crack, but I do get occasional loud pops- louder than normal pops.

I think I just need to learn how to properly make them, i havent really practiced

In my homies 340 in third gear when u stomp on it and let off before it changes gears that mf crackles and pops like an AK, he has the MPPSK on his MPE too though

Yes, a lot. Sometimes none if i'm not in S+ but when im in S+ I always do
