Chasing the 400hp goal

I'm chasing the 400hp figure for my 2015 435i ewg.

Right now I have catless dp with straight pipe to the tail pipes, 1 step colder spark plugs and MHD stage 2+, I always run 93 (98 ron) even though fuel prices peaked at £1.82 per litre last year engine is also approaching 75k miles.

My last dyno session was done during 2c weather so I had the right conditions, however I hit a peak of 382hp and an average of 370hp. Torque however stood consistent between 615 and 617nm.

I'm waiting on a back order right now but I have the VRSF 6.5" stepped fmic on it's way, however I'm not sure if this is going to massively help me break the 400 consistent mark.

So now I'm trying to understand the small things that are really going to be a contribution. Fueling? Will I see a difference with the fmic or am I more likely to see the 382 figure being consistent? What do you guys reckon, could I really be hitting 400hp and over with a FBO build and stock turbo, or do I need to start appreciating what I already have a little more

Well chasing a HP number is pretty much pointless.... just go to a difference dyno or use a correction factor and voila, you have met your goal. Anyways, that point aside...

You can make 400 whp on stock turbo, but you probably wont make it on MHD OTS maps. E20 map will get you close with supporting mods. If the temp was cold, a larger IC is probably not going to help you make more power, but datalogs would confirm the impact of your IC.

MHD is load based so unless you had timing corrections/high IATs or other issues (not meeting load target), you aren't going to make more power by adding other minor mods beyond what you listed, you will just benefit in other ways (throttle response, drivability, lower WGDC, etc).

The only way you are going to consistently get over 400whp on stock turbo is with better fuel (and the mods to supply the necessary quantity) and a custom tune.

IAT's did struggle most likely due to the stock IC so some timings were pulled - I know the guys pretty well at the garage now so they did me an extra pull whilst misting the IC and that's how I peaked at 382hp.

Fuelling is the next issue as we literally get E5 and newly introduced E10 in the UK. Race fuel is available but you've got to be prepared to buy huge amounts of it unless you're friendly with a supplier.. that or 1000 mile round trip to Germany and back haha

Stock IC on stage 2+ map...?

Anyways, i don't think MHD even has a race gas map, IIRC 95 is the highest, and that's only going to make slightly more power than 93 map. E20 will make more, but you dont really want to run that map with race gas (fueling will be way off).

even with the mppk tune my 435i struggles with IAT.

at 0ºC outside IAT are at 6-7ºC, just with one pull in 4th gear I end at 25-27ºC.

are you sure your ECU wasn't correcting cyl timing?

If you dont have easy access to better fuel/ethanol going meth rather than HPFP upgrade might be better for you. You will still need a custom tune to make the power you want.
