M sport engine mount question

So I'm setting up to do oil pan, engine mounts, water pump, etc etc for preventative before a leak happens.
Anyway, searching for engine mounts I keep finding this
Can anyone confirm if m sport engine mounts are actually different than base 335i
As far as I know they're no different but why do I keep seeing this and NON for m sport?

So I'm getting alternate part numbers for m sport and non msport, wtf is actually different honestly? Because the standard ones i keep finding fit m235i, 335i,435i etc etc
All say don't fit m sport but wouldn't an m235i be an "msport"
I'm just confused here

Check the Xi numbers to see if there is overlap, but it could be stiffer

The xi is a different part number I think because someone gave me xi mounts and they weren't the same. I'll double check later

Oh ok so I can use m2/m3 mounts? That was going to be another question when someone came along
I wanted to run the vtt plates with them however I hear it's pretty annoying with stock idle :/

Anyone who reads this later. M3 engine mounts do not fit
Passenger side mount is much larger and doesn't fit the frame without modification
Driver side is identical however.

I made it work tho, I had to open the hole up on passenger side.

Show me exactly what you did, Bimmerworld claimed it was an upgrade to use the M stuff on a Nonm.

I had to grind the hole open more, I would say another 1/2" diameter to make it fit. I placed mount on top of hole, use the bolts to hold it steady and used a sharpie to trace it, it's not the most pretty thing but it worked great

Yeah, I had a hard time believing the M mounts would bolt right in given that the M2/3/4 use an entirely different subframe.

Thanks for your post, finding this almost a year to the day later.

So when you say M2/3/4 you are talking about the part 22116855458 (listed as 'M Sport' part on realoem) or a the one AmuroRay listed 22117855818? And the issue was the subframe has a opening too small- nothing to do with the engine mount bracket? If the true M2 one doesn't fit, maybe the M sport one will.

22116855458 is the "M-sport" passenger side mount, and should fit.
The M3/M4 passenger side mount that does not fit without modification is 22112284818.

The driver side M3/M4 mount is 22112284817 and should fit.

I'm actually about to order the M-sport passenger and M3 driver mounts myself.

Roger that! That was my thought too. How soon are you going to do it?

Feels like we are all going down the same rabbit hole- dropping subframe for oil pan and wanting to make sure everything else gets taken care of while we are down there

I'm on the fence right now, need oil pan gasket done as well. I've decided I do not want to lay on my back for possibly two days straight, so I'm having a shop do it. Haven't scheduled yet because I'm hoping to see results from people that bought the pure 500 and 750. Seems like a good time to upgrade if everything's disassembled.

Here’s an idea I’ve thought about in the past, not sure if anyone else has thought about this, on swapping a M3/M4 engine subframe. F3x are made of steel and the F8x are made of aluminum. One should weigh the stock steel one without anything on it and once they have it out compare it to a F8x one and see if the swap is possible and maybe weigh the aluminum one to see if there’s any significant weight savings.

I’m pretty sure the main mounting points are the same, it’s the other small things that could be off.

FYI- Sometimes a good way to determine what the weight savings may be between two parts is to find out their shipping weights from BMW and compare.

The odd thing to me about this issue is that the parts description is specifically talking about M Sport Brakes, either the S2NHA (Front 370/Rear 345) or the P337A (Front 340/Rear 330).

Note that BMW parts calls the P337A “M Sport” because of the front Brembo calipers. They do not mean the Blue M Sport Brake package from the factory which actually is S2NHA. The A is for North America..

So why would the engine mounts in an F30 335i RWD vary depending on whether the car has front Brembo calipers or not? It’s actually a bit nonsensical because all F30 335i and 335i XDrives come with Brembo front calipers, either standard grey P337A 340mm or factory upgraded blue S2NHA.

It would make sense that RWD and XDrive engine mounts might be different because of front end weight differences, or possibly clearance issues?

Gotcha. I'm definitely not looking forward to the job, but I have had such poor experiences with getting my car worked on by others and can't imagine spending $2k to have someone half ass the job. I'm not debating any turbo upgrades, I just wanna make sure I hit all the bases while I'm down there. So far I have engine mount, sway bar, oil pan on the list.

Seems like its barely any weight saving. Assuming I have the part numbers right, its not even a pound of weight saved for $1k.

F30 - https://www.bmwpartsdeal.com/parts/b...106866983.html

M3 - https://www.bmwpartsdeal.com/parts/b...112284630.html

All that just to add a stiffer engine mount...meh... I'll probably just order multiple engine mounts to have on hand and return whichever ones don't fit.

I actually had this thought too...maybe the rationale is- harder breaking with Brembo caliper set could induce more movement from the engine, which necessitates stiffer engine mounts? Thats just total BS I just made up to possibly justify the reasoning.
