The Bimmerang is held in by three tabs. There are two on the top and one at the bottom. These tabs are very fragile. I broke two off on one side and managed to get the other side off only breaking one. I used a dash removal tool to pry the Bimmarangs off. http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece...kit-69668.html

More pics of the front please ! Debating whether or not do have my grills painted in EBII as well. Aren't you scared about the paint chipping off with road abuse ? I have painted grills before and was not pleased with the turnout. I'd probably have mind wrapped in transparent 3M tape to prevent the chipping. Looks good tho !

Same thing happened with mine. Had to use some silicone to reinstall!

Two tie wraps (zip ties)...a friend bent the plate at his shop. Doesn't look perfect, but acceptable for now.

I purchased primer, paint, adhesion promoter and clear coat from automotive touch up supply. They have a really nice clear coat that is the same chemistry used in professional automotive body shop repairs done today. Put 5 layers of paint and 4 layers of clear coat on the grills and bimmerangs. Put 3 layers of paint and 2 layers of clear coat on the reflectors. Link to the clear coat and this stuff will kill you if you don't wear a respirator. http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spr...clearcoat.aspx
The parts, besides the front grills, can be had for less than $100 total from the dealer.

Body shop at dealer estimated about $260 to remove, paint, and reinstall the "bimmerangs" on my F34. (They'll disassemble/loosen up a few things to get at the tabs from behind.) Add another $60 to order a new pair, rather than repainting, which will greatly reduce the amount of time the vehicle is out of comission.

Its a bit pricey, but it does sound better than silicone and zip ties.

They won't be able to get at the tabs from behind as they are sealed in back. The piece the tab snaps into also will not come out without destroying the piece. IND sells painted Bimmerangs for way less than your shop is quoting.

Think you did a better job dude! I could/should have done 5 coats on the grills too. Mine are close to the stock color, but two more coats would have been best.

Cheers

Unfortunately, they only sell them for F32s; I have an F34.

If http://www.etk.cc is to be believed, the two models use different trim pieces.

(The part numbers that it gives for the F34 do match those that I got from the parts department at my dealer.)

I don't suppose there's any chance that the parts you ordered from your dealer came with replacements for the little white "receptacles"?

Thanks for the great info!

Talking Pre-Painted F34 Bimmerangs on Order!

Thanks to Nate at iND Distribution, I now have a pair of F34-sized Estoril Blue Bimmerangs on order!

I had inquired about the compatibility of the F32 Bimmerangs listed on their web site before I found http://www.etk.cc/. When I confirmed that the F32 and F34 used different parts, I just assumed that the pre-painted route wasn't going to be an option.

Happily, I was wrong. Nate responded to my query with an offer to do a custom pair of Estoril Blue F34-sized fender trim pieces ... for the same price as the F32 pieces that are listed on their site! I am totally blown away by this level of customer service.

Thanks also to Amused for pointing me to iND in the first place!

That's great news. Sure you will be happy. I also bought some parts from IND and the color match was absolutely perfect. May end up purchasing bimmerangs from them too (just wanted to try painting my own first).

Did you remove the rear reflectors to paint them ? If yes, easy to remove, without breaking ?

The rear reflectors are held in by two push clips and are super easy to remove.

The clips are on the backside of the reflector. If you look at the backside of the rear bumper you will see the two tabs and then just push down on the clips and the reflectors pop right out. I can post a pic of what the reflectors look like when they are out as I still have my factory ones.
