Did you put the new plugs in yet? I'm about to be FBO with BM3 tune and am coming up on 60k on the odometer. Thinking of going the 1 step colder route (.i.e NGK 95770 gapped at .022). I wonder though if the stock Bosch plugs would be ok gapped at 0.020-0.022.

After researching this like crazy, i ended up with the 97506's. These are recommended by PTF. I haven't installed them yet but i will be soon. So if you have BM3 then these are what you will want.

I think that's a good idea. Per BMS website those NGK 97506 are the standard on n20 and s55 and gapped to .22 instead of .20 for us fbo is the way to go as it will be one step colder.

I installed the spark plugs yesterday and have driven at least 50 miles on them. The car seems to run better; its not faster but it's smoother and crisper. Not sure if its because my plugs had ~54k miles on them or if the NGK's are just that much better, but I have no issues with them so far. I am running JB4 Map 5, E30, FBO (stock turbo).
I gapped them at 0.020". Not sure I will ever need to gap them down to .018" since I cant imagine ill be running 25 PSI

OK I just did a shit ton of reading up on this and looking up all the specs and the stock Bosch plugs as well as the NGK 95770 and 97506 and this is what I found (all data from www.sparkplugs.com)
Bosch ZR5TPP33S (OEM plug for F30 N55) https://www.sparkplugs.com/product.aspx?zpid=40028 Shell Thread Size: 12mm Thread Pitch: 1.25mm Seat Type: Gasket Resistor: Yes Reach: 26.5mm (1.04") Hex Size: 14mm Bi-Hex Terminal Type: Solid Gap: .028" (0.7mm) Center Electrode Material: Platinum Type: Fine Wire Size: 0.6mm Projection: Extended Projection Ground Electrode Material: Platinum Type: Standard Shape: Taper Cut Quantity: 1 Specifications Torque Specs: Cast Iron: 11-18 lb. ft. Aluminum: 11-15 lb. ft. Brand: Bosch Heat Range: 5 Longevity: 80k Features: Extended Metal Shell NGK 95770 ILZKBR7B8DG Laser Iridium Plug https://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=39947 Shell Thread Size: 12mm Thread Pitch: 1.25mm Seat Type: Gasket Resistor: Yes Resistor Value: 5K Ohm Reach: 26.5mm (1.04") Hex Size: 14mm Bi-Hex Terminal Type: Solid Overall Height: ISO Gap: .031" (0.8mm) Center Electrode Material: Iridium Type: Fine Wire Size: 0.6mm Projection: Extended Projection Ground Electrode Material: Platinum Type: Standard Shape: Taper Cut Quantity: 1 Specifications Torque Specs: Cast Iron: 10.8-18 lb. ft. Aluminum: 10.8-14.5 lb. ft. Brand: NGK Heat Range: 7 Longevity: 80-100k NGK 97506 SILZKBR8D8S Laser Iridium Spark Plug https://www.sparkplugs.com/product.aspx?zpid=41489 Shell Thread Size: 12mm Thread Pitch: 1.25mm Seat Type: Gasket Resistor: Yes Reach: 26.5mm (1.04") Hex Size: 14mm Bi-Hex Terminal Type: Solid Overall Height: ISO Gap: .031" (0.8mm) Center Electrode Material: Iridium Type: Fine Wire Size: 1.0mm Projection: Extended Projection Ground Electrode Material: Platinum Type: Standard Shape: Taper Cut Quantity: 1 Specifications Torque Specs: Cast Iron: 10.8-18 lb. ft. Aluminum: 10.8-14.5 lb. ft. Brand: NGK Heat Range: 8 Longevity: 80-100k Features: Special Gasket One thing to note about the heat range between Bosch and NGK, they are not equivalent scales, in fact, they are the reverse. The higher number for NGK means colder plug, while the higher number for Bosch means hotter plug. It's confusing I know. A quick google search for spark plug heat range scale gives us a good table to go by (BTW different gaps will not make the plug hotter or colder. It's all about heat transfer and how much of the plug is exposed to the combustion chamber. I would recommend reading the link on sparkplug.com about heat range.) Here is a link to the chart http://matchlessclueless.com/wp-cont...comparison.jpg Heat range 5 for Bosch is equal to 7 for NGK, thus Bosch ZR5TPP33S and NGK 95770 are the same heat range. NGK 97506 is an 8, thus one step colder than the stock Bosh plug. Pre-gap for the 97506 is 0.031". I'm guessing gapping to 0.020" will be ok but I'm waiting for confirmation on that.

I recently purchased the BOSCH ZR5TPP33S plugs for my 14 335i xdrive and have the opportunity to return them. Do you guys think I should? Thinking of going bootmod3 as well.

I just ordered the NGK 97506 (OEM for the N20) and will be gapping them at .020". I'll provide feedback once I get them installed. Evidently, it's better to err on the cold side instead of the hot side for the plug. Too cold of a plug will just foul out while too hot of a plug and cause pre-ignition and engine damage.

Well since I’m due for new plugs (at about 54k on the odo right now) and I’ll be FBO + BM3 stg 2 soon, I’m erring on the side of caution and going one step colder and ordered the NGK 97506. They were $15/plug from BMS which is only a couple dollars more than the stock Bosch plugs at $12/plug.

Why 17ft-lbs? BMW recommends 30N-m (22 ft-lbs) and NGK recommends 18-22 ft-lbs?

I tried .020 first but car didn't like that so I'm at .024 with best results

I like this gap being that stock is 0.028". Also, NGK recommends not changing the pre-gap more than 0.008". The 97506s come pre-gapped at 0.031", so minimum gap should be 0.023".
What did you torque the plugs to?
