£5.5k worth of damage 2 months old

A lovely member of my team has trashed their 2 month old 1 series. This was picked up once the car was handed back at the depot. Shocking isn't the word!

- footprint in the door
- damaged roof
- every alloy scuffed
- front bumper scraped to shit

Some people shouldn't have company cars as they take the piss!

Nope, simple car hand over due to mileage cap.

Hand them the bill for the entire repair cost, deduct it from salary until it's paid, and give them a written warning.

Many companies would remove the company car benefit from people who treat 'their' cars in this way.

That's exactly what's happening, this isn't the first time a car has come back damaged. First time it was written of but the second one since December is a joke.

Case of not my car - I don’t care.

Wonder how many other people’s pride and joy have been on the receiving end of some of that damage.

We get this a lot, all our company cars have to last 4 years (no mileage limit) but they get racked to shit and handed back in a hell of a state.

Worst part is fleet will authorise repairs anyway, so there is no excuse to hand back or drive a bashed up car.

But that is excessive damage, some people have shit luck but still - that just careless

Surely most of it was 3rd party vandalism though?

That's exactly what it is and was confirmed when pulled by the fleet management team.

Does seem odd, jumping on the roof of your car? Strange.

If the guy has done all that to the car himself for me it's a straight red card off you go mate, I wouldn't want that kind of person working for me.

I agree, if he's caused all that damage himself my immediate reaction would be to send him down the road if I was his line manager! However, it seems he has history for returning company cars in a terrible state so perhaps he's got some issues that need addressing?

And I'd address them by moving him on.

It's a she also

With the member of staff employed via an agency but working for us it's tricky what we can do in terms of disciplinary action.

My gripe is if the car was vandalised why not call the fleet team and insurance straight away to report it? That's exactly what I done when I once had a company car many a moon ago.

The fact it's been handed back and their attitude is "not my car, not my problem" coupled with this is the second car in 7 months and over £500 worth of parking and bus lane fines in one month is a piss take.

Out of curiosity, what was his excuse for how all the damage happened?

Particularly the damage to the roof?
