False Alarm?
Hope someone can provide some insight into this issue.
My wife's 2014 335i alarm seems to be randomly going off. I've seen other threads (of older cars) where the switch in the hood is found usually by the hood shock area (and would disconnect to see if that's the culprit). But I can't seem to find any on this car. Or could it be something else? Thanks! |

Does it happen when it's cold? A little bit of water on the sensors could be freezing, preventing them from touching properly, setting off the alarm randomly. I know, seems like an odd guess from me but it happened to me on my previous car 🤷🏻*♂️!

Thanks
I’ve actually tried doing that last night to give it a try. But is there verification that the interior motion sensor has been disarmed? |

I'm sure you didn't but did you leave anybody in the car after you locked it? I locked the doors out of habit while refueling and my son was in the car and it set off the alarm... I tested it again with him and sure enough he just moved his arms around and set it off...

I think the LED under the mirror is supposed to do a slow/long blink to confirm. I've tried to deactivate the alarm countless times with no success. I'm wondering if cars sold in the US have it disabled for some reason.

Nope I don’t think that happened as I was watching the led. But I’ll try doing it again.

Cars sold in the US still has it. My dash cam fell and set it off. Also I had the top down and alarm on and threw some stuff in the car and it set the alarm off.

I just was in the shop for a similar issue, and it was rodents that had chewed the wires. Was getting miscellaneous false alarms. Noticed the red indicator lamp blink quickly for the first 10-15 sec then slowed to a steady blink. Also there was no chirp upon locking even though I had that toggled on. The fast blink meant that the car was not recognizing something as closed. Interior motion sensor still worked, so I thought it could be the hood latch switch as many speak of. In the end the dealer sent me the picture of the chewed wires and I had them fix it. All working now.

I'll try to check the wiring too. But does anyone know where the hood switch is on the F30? Thanks |

I think you can pull the codes (with a good code reader) and it will tell you which sensor is setting off the alarm.

I just tried the procedure on a family member's F25 X3 and it seems to work. I pressed the lock button a second within 10 seconds and the LED stayed illuminated for about 2 seconds before 10-15 very fast flashes. |

I did not have any error codes which my generic OBDC II could detect. I guess a better code reader may have detected. Also, if your battery is older, that could pose issues with the false alarms. Where the rodents had chewed the wires in my car was up behind the rear wheel well, so you'd need to remove the panels to access that area, but the issue could be anywhere. You could also check if there is a blown fuse. The dealer replaced fuse 103 in addition to the wiring fix. I believe the alarm is first controlled by the FEM then the REM along the path of checking.

It does. I had to do the second press while holding my key near the windshield for it to turn in the interior sensors off. Whenever I leave the car with the top down I have to turn the interior sensor off. it's the only way i can get it to work. maybe it's a vert thing on my car. |

Just scanned codes.
Came up with alarm activated and panic alarm. One instance each. Also came up with CD0487. Did a search, seems as though many people mention this fault code but no one ever mentions how they corrected or what specifically it is. I'm guessing that even though my wife seems to think the alarm is going off randomly I suspect someone is bumping into the car and triggering the alarm. |

Isn't the panic alarm activated by the key fob?

My alarm has been intermittently going off as well. At least 5x this morning, but prior to that it was weeks ago it happened. I just put the F31 on a CTEK battery tender now, ill leave it for a few hours and see if that helps. I do have a sunshade up on it most of the time, but would be random to trigger the alarm now. I've tried to disable the interior motion/tilt sensors as well.
Could it be hood latch like on the older generations?
