N20 328i JB4 **STAGE2** Dyno Testing -- New World Record. :)
Just got this info so I thought I would share..
As you know BMS has been working on the JB4 for the N20 motor (Stage2) for the last month or so and they have made some really solid and amazing progress. The car is 100% stock (tune only) Only mod is the JB4 and a 50% mixture of E85 fuel and 91 octane (e.g. approx E40 fuel). Results: A new N20 2.0l world dyno record: 300+whp and 350+wtq!!! Baseline with factory tuning (only with E85 fuel) was 237whp. Gains were as high as +70whp (~90 crank hp) in areas under the curve. A few comments: 1) Not ready to release all of the tuning details but will say peak boost was around 23psi (compared to 17psi factory), and in areas under the curve making as much as 10psi more than the factory. 2) As expected the platform LOVES E85 fuel. Performance on 91 or 93 octane fuel will be substantially lower but will be stronger than Stage1 power levels. And a very interesting observation I think 3) During testing they opened up the airbox to simulate a high flow intake and determine the potential for intake power gains. In doing so they found exactly zero horsepower gained even at these high boost levels. The factory airbox is simply not a restriction at 300rw. For this reason its suggested you use only the factory airbox with the N20 platform. Companies claiming gains with intakes on this platform are potentially fooling themselves and/or you. Mike |

Wow nice! Might have to ditch the AFE and get the BMS for the stage II

E85 is too sparse, will want to see 93 octane numbers.
I had a suspicion that 10-14whp claimed gains on intakes was BS.

Hows the stock FMIC holding up? I should say how heat soaked does it get?

Well, if it can hold a tuned N55 it can hold a tuned N20.

Great news. I cannot wait to ugrade to stage 2. Stage 1 is already awesome.
I also do not know anywhere to get E85 fuel..But every once and awhile, I fill up about half my tank with 91 and half my tank with 100 octane. The difference is CRAZY! That 100 octane makes a huge difference. Would the E85 be comparable to mixing a tank with 100 octane? |

For sound, I would spend $200. Any more then that and its not worth it. The AFe was $270 around the holidays.

Not sure, but I think I just peed my pants (I'lll check later): I have an E85 station 5 min from my house. $4.09 / gallon vs Premium at $4.29.

I wonder what a full tank of 100 octane would be like. Gotta try that... |
