To be fair I did find the better damping in the Bilsteins - plus Michelin's - already give much better traction.

So in the warm and dry you've got to be pushing on to feel the diff at work but at 7/10ths and above it's a B-road beast. Or you have to be pulling some tight angles - when it can be pretty hilarious.

In the damp or wet your just in a different league
It sounds ideal, I haven't found a lot of info or reviews from people who've had it installed over here. Doesn't seem to be a hugely popular option, but then I don't think BMW advertise these options very well and dealer knowledge is limited.

We do trips to Europe to tour the Alps so there are plenty of sharp turns and twisty roads to feel the benefit from it by the sounds of things. Ideally I'd like one fitting before the next trip. Did you notice much of a difference from a standing start over the standard diff? Did you manage to get a decent deal on yours? I was hoping since the new models are out there might be more deals to be had on F series parts
Quite a big community in the 140i world, babybmw forum in particular.

Yes there is difference from a standing start, but may be more subtle then expected - it really depends on the road surface and how hard you are pushing! Full bore will hook up much better of course, but you're quite likely to light-up both wheels.. easier than expected tbh.
Pottering around town you won't know it is there.

The most difference is on the move; corners, junctions, undulations. Locked in 2nd/3rd and powering out of a bend in Sports+ or Traction mode a fun game.

MarkCup70 on YouTube has just fitted one. I rate his commentary so worth keeping an eye for his feedback video when it comes.

Mine was second hand but I think they can be had new and fitted for a shade over £2k these days. Cotswold BMW seemed to come up a lot wen I was looking..

What's the part number for these? I've seen two and not sure which ones are correct:

47-120471 or 47-264632

47-264632 - I contacted the Bilstein suspension store UK before buying and they confirmed that was the updated part number

Muchos gracias.

I've been contemplating getting ACS or Eibach springs, but the more I look at the pictures with the Bilsteins the more I'm convinced that I should spend the money and get the car done right first time.

No problem. I was the same, I was tempted to go with ACS springs and I'm sure they would have been as good as everyone says. I wasn't convinced they would be low enough though so decided to spend a little more on these and I'm glad I did. The ride is fine for me, handling improved and the ability to fine tune the height.

I asked them to leave a finger gap between the arch and tyre and they've pretty much got it spot on. They can go lower but I'm going to see how I get on at this height and if I have no issues getting around then I might drop them and other 5 - 10mm.

I had already fitted 12mm front and 15mm rear spacers, before it was lowered the fronts poked out a little too much for my liking so I was going to change them to 10's. However the slight camber they have after being lowered tucks them nicely in to the arches and they now sit perfectly.

I haven't got many miles on them yet but initial impressions are good, there is no significant decrease in comfort over the passive m sport suspension - one of my concerns as this is my main car. You can feel they are firmer especially at lower speeds around town but certainly at higher speed and on the motorway they are an improvement.

I'll live with them a little longer before trying to give an honest opinion on how they perform and how they are to live with day to day. But at this moment I'm very happy.
the rear springs are not mounted correctly, you have to remove the oem upper cup before mounting the threaded spring

I fitted the B14s to my previous F20 M135i and as mentioned above, you remove the original upper spring pocket and pad.

One question, to raise the height of the car on the rear springs, do you have to raise the thread nut or lower the nut? Thanks :-)

You wind it up so the spring is less compressed.

Yep, that was corrected shortly after. Thanks for the heads up though, just 3 years too late haha

Michelin MPS4s

Front 225/35/20
Rear 265/30/20

increased the rears from 255/30 to match the sidewall of the fronts better. The 255 looked slightly stretched in comparison.

The car is a shadow edition which comes with slightly darkened tail lights as standard.
