Plasti dip front lip?
I'm thinking about installing a front lip on my 2018 440i. In addition to the cool factor, I want it to provide some protection to the front bumper, which tends to bottom when entering or exiting parking lots and driveways.
I think I want to keep it black, with the MGM, and I was thinking about spraying it with Plasti Dip, which many people use on wheels, etc. Thoughts? |

I have a magic drift lip too. Can vouch for fitment and quality. Check my threads for a review from last year.
It looks awful when it gets dirty though. Doesn't hide dirt as well as the M Perf side skirt extensions. I am going to paint mine gloss black rather than plastidip though. Either way, definitely worthwhile. |

Bought the same lip and I am also planning to plastidip it black and finish it with plastidip glossifier. Hope that it will look ok.

I found this stuff. It looks good, stands up to a mechanical car wash, and it's easy to touch up if it gets nicked. Instead of masking off the lip, I've found that just holding a big piece of cardboard along the seam of the lip prevents overspray.

Just spray it black with 2x black spray paint....plasti dip won't last long down there and will look like crap in no time.
Mine has held up well so far using the 2x spray paint... Last edited by SoCal_NSX; 08-10-2018 at 05:23 PM.. |

I like the stuff I found because I can use it for touchups without taking the lip off the car or doing extensive masking. Wouldn't want to try that with the 2X!
Due to some low driveways, I've taken a couple of small chunks out of the bottom edge of the lip. I've been able to patch them with a JB Weld epoxy putty stick, then respray with the Dupli-Color Custom Wrap, and it looks fine. |
