Looks like my 328i MPE has some wider pipes. Which is interesting, because you also measured a 328i MPE, but I got different results.
Thanks RJD,

I thought BMW was past the days when they just sold what was on the shelf, but WTF?

My calc says: 250mm / 3.14159 ~ 80mm? So a least you're not killing me with that pipe!

Mmmm yah you're right. Obvisouly the circumference and diameter of that out pipe are exact, I was able to measure those directly with the tips and taking one tip off, along with the circumference of the in pipe, but my diameter of the in pipe was rough, forgot about math, forgot I could just get circumference and divide by pi C/pi=d or 250/3.14159 = 80mm like you said. Final answer! lol So not as big a difference as I originally thought... Oops, sorry! But those numbers are right now.

So my in-pipe gets reduced from 330i ~80mm center pipe to the 328i MPE ~76mm in pipe by the big clamp. Looks like a small reduction, but should a clamp be used to reduce the pipe size at all?
This is the only measurement that bothers me.

I know the piping that I replaced my muffler with was 3", but it was welded on and I haven't had any issues with it. Not too sure if clamping it would make a big difference.

So what exactly did you need to do to get the proper fit on your car, was it just replacing the mounting rod?

Thinking about doing the same thing once I get my hands on an MPE.

Yes, the mounting plate (w/rod) from the 328i, driver's side.

I would not sweat what is happening at the muffler so much (as long as you dont have a single outlet 320i muffler), being as the connection between the downpipe and cat back necks down to 2.25" (57mm) inner diameter and no one seems to care about that lol... I would try to ensure that the 80mm to 76mm is a smooth transition, but we are only talking a 2mm lip, so its still nothing to lose sleep over.

I'll try to stop being lazy, replace the batteries in my caliper and measure my 330i Dinan and 328i sport line specs sometime.
