If my car is pro tuned (custom flash) and I want to switch back to a BM3 tune do I have get the car flashed back to stock first or will the BM3 just overwrite the tune that is on there now? Common sense is telling me that it will just overwrite and be fine but just want to make sure before I brick the ecu or something like that.

Could someone provide feedback on these logs? 2015 N55, BM3 OTS Stg1 93 w/G-Plus Stepped Intercooler
Symptoms.. no issues under WOT, but occasionally on city driving ~2000-2500 RPM with medium throttle, there is strange vibration sensation. I'm thinking thats the transfer case slipping. I see knock is reported on 2 of 3, and timings don't look great. I also see the wastegate duty cycle is a bit high but boost pressure looks OK. Not sure if that's a sign of a boost leak or not. Sorry for the long logs -- autolog doesnt work for me half the time, so after the first pulls didnt record I just started early with manual recording. Log 1: https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=607b...0b430c796fa000 Log 2: https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=607b...0b430bfba06614 Log 3: https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=607b...0b430bfba06626 I'm at 42k miles on the car, stock plugs and coils. Not sure if that's a good start, or if I should try adding 1-2 Gal e85 to each fill-up. |

wastegate behavior is a bit overactive at higher RPMs in some logs and i've seen this before on my own car. i don't think it's a boost leak, just the tune itself not perfectly dialed for your wastegate.

I did my plugs at 45k. Replace with stock plugs stock gap. No guarantee it will improve your timing, but they are essentially due anyways since your car is tuned. |

Thanks for the responses both of you!
Is adding E85 an option, or not recommended for an OTS tune? I do have E85 available. Kinda a PITA to use two pumps every fill up, but maybe better than downgrading to a 91 tune |

mixing E85 does help but at this point it would make more sense to just switch to an E85 map

Does anyone know if there is a way for me to get through my inspection/emissions test with my XDI HPFP in BM3. This isn't a question about emissions like everyone else asks since I have a Fabspeed Cat however I can't get my head around if the car will pass running the bm3 tune (the cel override will not be checked in bm3 due to me having the cat). If i remove the tune it seems the xdi pump will not run and requires that check box for xdi.
Just trying to avoid having to remove the TMAP sensor and XDI pump just to go to inspections. Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

FWIW you probably would not even feel a difference between the 91 map and the 93 map, especially when you can't support the timing on the 93 map. |

But just to verify.. the OTS maps are capable of working with an E85 mix, if I try it before going to 91? I'm just concerned about the fuel flow... it does know it's being sent "weaker" fuel and therefore sends more? I hope that question makes sense. |

Hey folks, would you be so kind to read my logs?
I have bm3 st2 93 ots map + xHP st3 (cp, dp, plumb back BOV, cold intake). Brand new sparks and coils and fresh oil, tank had 13 gl of 93 and 2 gl of E85 and it was about 315 mi to go. At the moment when recorded that log it was about 129 mi, I assume 40% of those 15 gl mixed. My concern is about boost. At peak it has his 17 psi or so, but starts slowly, is not it? HPFP works as expected. Timings are pretty similar. Load significantly below but I do not know what is that about. Any ideas why my car with st2 93 run 0-60 4.95 as best? Thanks. https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=607c...729b77cf8e30ea https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=607c...729b77cf8e30f1 |

Yes, they work with an E85 mix, but it just relies on closed loop fueling to correct to the E85 in the tank. These cars don't have ethanol sensors stock so the car has no idea you are running more ethanol, it just uses the oxygen sensor to add additional fuel as needed to keep AFR in check. That's why you dont want to go more than 2, maybe 3 gallons max to an otherwise full tank. |

Correct, MHD recommends/targets E20 because E30 is too close to the HPFP limit. The BM3 tunes typically push hardware further. I actually target a 30% ethanol mix on the E20 map for timing/fuel quality reasons, but its right at the HPFP limit. PWG can "handle more" because they run less boost, so less air, but the same HPFP. |

Changing the subject somewhat.... I recently made the jump to XHP after using the BM3 transmission flash for 6 months or so. I genuinely thought I wouldn't notice much difference when I made the swap; I was wrong.
The improvements are very, very noticeable and I got a little over 2 mpg more. For those on the fence BM3 and XHP combined are a great combo. Last edited by GAB0; 04-23-2021 at 01:27 PM.. |

The other thing i would comment on is that your IATs are quite high and you have a pretty massive IAT rise for a short pull over 3rd gear. Are you trying to run this map on a stock IC? You didnt list a IC in your mod list. In any case, your IC seems significantly undersized if you are running one. You should not be hitting 130F IATs by the end of 3rd gear. I don't know what you mean by "cold intake", but if its a open air filter, thats basically a hot air intake. The load is basically irrelevant in BM3 because its not a load-based tune like stock/MHD.
