My company owner bought an Alpina B7, so they're out here. A 600hp beast starting at $140K.

^This. No one looking for a sporty 2 door/4 door is going to cross-shop a wagon. That's like saying I'm in the market for a 911 and added a Volvo SUV to the list. Beyond apples/oranges imo.

SO MUCH WANT!

350hp 525lb-ft and 40+ mpg. I don't think it gets better then that for a DD. MT would be nice but I don't think I would be complaining.

Thanks for the share OP.

Oh and Alpina's only come with a 2 year warranty instead of the normal 3.
Nope its 3 now and has been for a while

Alpina need to change their website then as it explicitly states 2 years.

Maybe they cover 2 and then BMW covers the 3rd year?

If we're talking about the engine this is not true.

Although the car Alpina uses from the BMW factory lines to modify is a 330d (for the sedan and touring without xDrive; for the Alpina D3 xDrive this is however the 335d xDrive), the engine is none other than the one used in the 335d or the previous 535d engine (which was already used in the D5).

They had to use the 330d for the RWD models because there is no rear wheel drive 335d any longer that could be used as a basis. Not really a problem though because the rest of the car is identical anyway.

No no, you have misunderstood a lot of things here.

Alpina does not touch the turbos (they do in the B3 and B5 but that is another story). They keep the turbos from the 335d engine and these are obviously sequential turbos with variable geometry.

Alpina optimises the things around the turbos such as the manifold and exhaust system, and add a few coolers, increase the injection pressure etc.

Indeed.

No, the gearbox has nothing to do with a Rolls. It's the usual ZF 8 speed gearbox, but due to the higher torque output they use the model from the BMW 8 cylinder engines.

I like this car as much as you probably did, but please do some more research before you spread some false info around.
