It does feel overpriced as it's just plastic trim at the end of the day. Considering the difficulty I had in finding someone who can make them in 1 piece I think it's a pretty good deal though, especially as there aren't many alternatives.

I also like the guy. I met him when I picked mine up in person. You can tell he just really loves making things and tinkering.
Here's mine, got my plate and y cable off a forum member here on the classifieds

For those of you who have bought the 2 piece (and 1 piece) versions off of ebay, what is the consistency like during the day?

I bought the 2 piece version (per door). I've noticed that during the day, one of the two pieces tends to "shine" and look quite uneven - especially compared to the second piece. I've attached some pics because it's hard to explain. Notice that on the right hand side - the piece is basically unnoticeable, but on the left hand side it sort of "glimmers".

I find it hard to justify purchasing the "one piece" version, but if the consistency is perfect I just might do it....

Thanks!

My 1 piece does not have that issue.

To everyone who has this installed on their F30s:

Are the plastic strips pretty visible during the day when ambient lighting is not on? I have a black interior and am unsure if the plastic strip will stand out as a weird aftermarket/DIY part during the day..

Thanks ahead of time for everyone's feedback!

Please see my pic above. For the two piece version, 1/2 of it is basically invisible (looks stock), but the other 1/2 "glimmers" and looks sort of out of place.

If you go with the one piece version, I assume it would look good/mostly unnoticeable during the day.

Costs is about $60

Contact him to get yours now! No files needed, just tell him you want the F30 BMW Ambient Light Bars.

BTW

The latest STL file has each piece the with same length (of about 20") but the fronts would benefit from another inch at the back (21")

David is making another set for me with this added length.

Another big thank you to awmenard for the latest file.

Did the 21" work better? I was finally able to measure my doors on my F36.
Front: 20"
Rear: 12"

I was measuring just the actual strip of LED that was lit up. Would that be the correct measurement? Or should I go longer? I wondering if that's why you added the extra inch in the front.

Hopefully those measurements help out fellow F36 owners.

Now to send David an email.

I'm definitely ready to order some one piece strips. I've read through all 8 pages, but don't see any mention of F33 convertible. Has anyone put them in this car? Confirm the strips will indeed work? Exact length to order strips?

Just picked up my car a few weeks ago. My first BMW and I'm really liking it so far.

Thanks!

I was able to re-measure my doors in the day light and got
Front: 20.5"
Rear: 12.5"

I measured the channel where the LED strip was recessed in (that I assume the plastic insert slides into) from end to end. Just sent David an email. Fingers crossed he can get them made and sent over to me soon!

Hi

Does anyone here knows if these mouldings will fit in F11?
Or might know where to get an F11 file?

Regards Sotomayor

Here's the latest update: An eBay seller in the UK (seller name: ambientmodz) is falsely trying to claim ownership over the design of the DIY ambient light mod.
In an aggressive predatory move, he abused the eBay VeRO system to have my listing taken down. He is just selling the 2 part strips and he doesn't want competition from the superior 1 part strips that I am offering.

I hope to work this out with eBay, but for now you can purchase the one part strips from me at my website store here:

http://3d-printing-chicago.com/store.html

The good news is I am also working on my own designs for a couple more models. If you have any questions or would like me to make some for your model, I would prefer you contact me through the Contact tab on my website at the link above.
