After exchanging multiple messages with SLY22 it is very clear that he is up to no good.
First i was messaged a very generic message

Him/her - "Hello, i have what you are looking for to purchase. PM me if you are still interested. Regards"

Me- "Are you a dealer"

Him/her - "No i'm not. I ordered for a new one ...not knowing that I've already gotten one, my son bought this one. So, it has been in stock and of no use ... kindly send your email so i'll have the photo sent over there. regards"

Me- "What kind of car do you drive?"

Him/her- "My car is a Bmw F30 328i, but i had a N26 which has been sold"

Me- "what else are you selling"

Him/her - "just the DP"


At this point i have clicked on his profile and have seen all of the "WTB" posts
he has responded to for multiple vehicle types


Me- "Oh alright, where are you located?"

Him/her- "Am located in North Carolina... where are you located and when do you want itshipped?"

Me- "I'm located in North Carolina as well, what city?"

Him/her- "I'm located in Ashville... how about you ?"

Me- "I'm located in Asheville as well, small world. Let's meet up and i will buy the downpipe off of you in person"

Him/her- "Can you wait till next weekend ? i traveled down to New Jersey for a job . "

Me- "How far down is New Jersey from Asheville?"

No response after that.

Once he said "down to New Jersey" i laughed, most people know new jersey is north of the Carolinas...

Regardless the whole thing was sketchy and i advise you to ignore him.

Totally agree with you. If you look at his post he has multiple items for various cars. Super sketch! Keep this at the top!

Will do. They usually try an trick you into sending them money for shipping or things along that line. It's social engineering and it's annoying as all hell lol

Yeah no kidding, I've had 2 this month. Another guy tried to sell me an eisenmann exhaust for 700 and said he needed 400 dollars to hold it for me lol. If it sounds too good to be true it most likely is.

i agree with you 100%. We could always keep this post going for suspicious users and activity. It would help protect us honest guys that are actually trying to buy and sell.

Sounds like the classic Craigslist scam! Please have mods sticky this or something similar to the top! This is a great place for fellow drivers to exchange used parts for discounted prices, and don't want that to be ruined by some assholes on the internet!

I always reverse search images that are sent to me. And also look at posts they have posted and or posted in. That's a great investigation tool for authentication. I am an IT security analyst so this stuff is like second nature lol

I was selling a car once for $22,000 on auto trader and a guy messaged me he's buying it for his dad and if I could ship it to Seattle, he would pay me with money gram or some crap like that he can't use internet as he's "magically deployed, saving lives "

I told him F off scam scum.

Gotta be careful, these fools are getting clever and desperate.

When purchasing on here advice is look at member post count and history, feedback on here is valuable as well I leave it when buying or purchasing, but even that sometimes is a rims so just deal with pay pal and pay the fee and be protected. Just my thoughts.

Jason please look into this...we don't need this in our community.

I wanted to buy black carpet mats and he was selling " I wanted to change mine....not knowing that i had already gotten one, my son went ahead to buy this one which has been no use to me, so i just want it sold out."


Asking price for some carpet.....$125 new from BMW....$200 from Sly....being scammed Priceless!

The email he uses is 01sly22@gmail.com and is named SLY 042 on GMAIL.
