I think it does look better without the badges but you do get classed as point 1 above
My dealer told me debadging is more popular on the lower AND high powered cars. Not so popular on the 'middling' cars. With this in mind, I'd add a third reason to the above - stealth/anti-hassle. My split guess would be 65/35 to the lower powered cars. Like myself, I'd say there was plenty of debadging because of stealth/anti-hassle AND the cleaner look.

I've debadged. Couldn't care less what people think I'm driving.

Lol yes they do, they used to assume Yaris on back of car meant usual 1.3 etc and not a nicely sorted T Sport roller skate.

Ok it was mainly the clowns in standard focus or Astra types or usual family car stuff.

Kept all mine on. I don't mind people knowing what I'm driving. After all it is what it is. I've never debadged a car though so maybe not the best person to comment

Totally agree, twats will key it etc, just because it's a merc, audi, jag, BMW, looks nice etc.

Same on road, people tend to go off make of car and tar driver, Volvo drivers etc

Simply don't understand the idiot who thought it would be a good idea to stick that naff x-drive badge on the back of the 3/4 series. Yes, it can be removed, but what a completely tacky badge (and you paid for it!). Go back to the old numbers: 335/435dx - much more subtle - or a tiny x-drive badge under the main one. And those side M badges? Ugh! Naff, naff, naff!

My dealer didn't advise me whether to debadge! Besides, I'm pretty sure the dealers don't supply and fit the badges and we all know BMW and the dealers are massively separate entities.

I'm not sure about the side m badges, Audis have their s line badges there, probably where BMW got the idea from!

Debadged for me.

Prefer the stealth look - when you overtake something they can think WTF was that.
Security - less likely to get nicked being a 335d
HATE the xdrive badge
Likewise dont like the M badges on the side. If it was a true M car they'd be left on - but its not.

(Should have asked for a further discount from the dealer - surely they must save about £50 from debaged cars? )

I agree. I don't see the need to advertise the trim level. Anyone fancy 'SE' or 'Modern' side badges?!

Similarly I don't see the need to advertise a function of the car. XDrive badges remind me of cars that had ABS badges. Then there was Volvo with their Side Impact Protection System SIPS badges. Why?!

Agreed...

And why the Audi and VW still feel the need even today to put TDi and FSi badges on the back of the car? Who cares?

I'm rapidly going off rear badges - I think Ford have the right idea these days as you dont see many badges on them.

Although painting your badges might be viewed as modifying your car, that is for another thread.
