I want to build my n20 F36 xdrive up a bit, however it is also my daily driver. I am considering the following:
Active autowerkes signature axle back GFB dv+ Injen evo intake ER competition FMIC and charge pipe ER Catless DP BM3 tune Is this a bit overkill on a DD? Also if I go with all of it am I missing anything that would help with longevity and having the car run smooth? ie. fuel pump, etc. Also any recommended order in which to install everything over time since it won't be all going in at once. |

I don't think there's a best order per se, just do the FMIC and CP together, just because it makes sense, and don't do the DP w/o the tune, and assuming you're going straight to stage 2, don't do the tune w/o the DP either.

1. FMIC / CP
2. DV+ 3. Downpipe 4. Exhaust 5. Tune No reason to pay anyone to do 1-4. Skip the intake. Waste of money, grab an aFe air scoop instead. We all dd similarly built machines. Not overkill at all. |

Yah I should add, nearly every F30 owner, especially N20 owners, DD their cars, myself included. A 328i is a pretty lame weekend car if we're being honest lol.

Yeah... I'm not going to DD a car that's making 1000whp but until then, she's a quick little thing when you get to rip it after traffic.

I think the OEM intake does well on its own. The k&n filter will always be up for debate but more air never hurt anybody.
I honestly got the injen intake just for that whoosh sound. =p

Im currently running a KN but about to try an OEM next oil change and compare Blackstone labs. Some people believe the KN is letting fine particles into the engine therefore damaging it in the long run. |

And to OP, the OEM intake is probably better flowing than any aftermarket ones. The only benefit is the sound, and the con is potentially restricting flow.

Search.... youll see! In all seriousness... Ive been running mine for 30k miles without issue. Oil change every 5k. For the next two changes I will be switching off Mobil 1 SAE 0w40 and the KN drop in air filter and trying out Liqui Moly SAE 5w40 and an OEM filter. I will run a blackstone analysis and post the first results in early October most likely (M1/KN combo) and then the second change after 5k (LiquiMoly/OEM combo). I have no idea what to expect. Im guessing that the Liqui Moly / OEM test results will show "improvement" in certain areas. Its supposed to anyway |

Picked up the Liqui Moly last time they had a 15% off coupon (two 5L jugs) which made it only $31 all in per jug compared to $25 per jug of the Mobil 1. Not an extreme premium for a three time a year thing.

But do post the Blackstone results, definitely worthy of a new thread. Looking forward to that.

Oh haha sorry. Tag me next time
I don't see any possible way it could be bad for the car, but people will find a way to nay-say anything and tell everyone that everything is potentially harmful.

Ordered the aFe scoop and a K&N drop in for now. Worst case can get an aFe intake and keep the scoop later.
Got a lot going on with the car this week between the scoop, air filter, and my staggered 19" wheel setup going on. I got a lot to look forward to! |

I daily drive mine, it is definitely not an overkill, it will make your daily driving experience so much better. Especially once you tune it with BM3 and get those burble sounds... pop pop.

Improving suspension behavior is worth adding to the list of goals. One spends a lot of time with the suspension while performing daily driving duties.

COMPLETELY agreed. While I know springs don’t do much, I have done the h&r’s and will likely do a couple of small things.

I mean, I don't know if we can say that it flows better than aftermarket or vice versa. The difference between a drop-in and aftermarket intake is incredibly minimal anyways. I personally went for mine because of the smaller form factor.
