Whats Wrong With My TMPS?

So got a new set of forgestars for the 4. I reused the stock tmps that came with the car and it's giving me a malfunction error. they worked the first day they were on but the next day about 10 minutes into my drive they malfunctioned and they won't connect.

Anyone have a similar issue or have an idea of what could be wrong?

Might need new TPMS sensors - I had same problem when changing wheels on my 335i. Could be the original ones got damaged during the remove/replace process. They're available from numerous sources but be sure to get the correct ones for your car's production date.

Not necessarily. After rotating my tires iDrive will show the last measured result for quite a while before the system notices that the tires are no longer in the positions where they used to be and tosses a warning, at which point a re-set gets it all back to normal again. Try another reset, and keep in mind you have to drive around for at least ten minutes while it's working on it.

Batteries are a cheaper diagnosis. No joy then buy sensors.

The batteries in my sensors (US-style) are embedded - no way to replace them as far as I can tell. And tire shops don't offer replacement batteries. Might be different in the UK, depending on what type of system you use over there.

US TPMS batteries can't be replaced, only the sensor, but the minimum life should be 7 years.
