GT86 Cut 'n' Shut

So there's going to be a GT86 Shooting Brake. Personally I think Toyota has got the back of the car very wrong. Very heavily influenced by the Civic, but it looks completely out of place which is a shame as practicality & performance does tend to appeal.

Garage List
Looks like they were inspired by the Honda CR-Z or even CRX. Not a huge fan of the GT86 looks, but if I had to take one it would be the saloon over this mini-estate version.

I looked at that over the weekend, it is just plain wrong on looks.

It worries me when Toyota and BMW are currently collaborating and then Toyota come out with this.

Hopefully the people from Germany tell the people from Japan a big no on designing.

Could be interesting if they kind of used the pre-lci 1 series 3 dr shape, which wasn't all that bad from the rear quarter!

But then again, I'm a sucker for a Z3M breadvan!

This CR Z mutation is vile

The Z5 and Supra will supposedly share same platform.

Engines and suspension by BMW, the tech electronics by Toyota.

That could be an interesting marriage, however with a caveat tha BMW do a better job than with a standard 3 series suspension. I'd be looking forward to an outcome for sure.

Hope it fares better than the failed(?) Alfa Romeo - Mazda collaboration on a roadster if I remember correctly:
- Japanese styling
- Italian tech and reliability

Alfa Romeo / Nissan got together to make a small (Focus sized) car in the 90s - they could have designed it with the flair of the 146 and made it in Japan but no they took the old Cerry boring body and interior, put in a good Alfa boxer engine and then made it in Italy!!
