I'm transferring the parts from muffkings computer to a new case but the psu seems small and the fixing holes don't match up. It's a micro atx do I need a atx psu for the new case?

The case that was linked has support for an ATX psu. It may be possible to mount the current psu in the case with a bit of tweaking. Do you know the make and model of the current psu?

It's this one

Not sure how I could get it to fit only one fixing hole lines up then there's a big gap around the psu because it's to small. I don't mind buying another psu if any ones got any recommendations

Oh it's an SFC PSU, that's unlucky. Also 380w is a bit low for a graphics card, I'd get one of at least 500w with a single 12v rail, and from a decent make like Corsair, EVGA or cooler master.

I highly recommend Corsair:

Which graphics card will the system have?

You will most likely be working at 1080p anyway so a decent 1080p monitor will be sufficient.

This would be a decent monitor. Low response time (good for gaming) and a 75hz refresh will mean a smoother experience. Assuming the card can consistently reach it.

If you have a bit more of a budget, this one is pretty much the one I have and has been very good.

I was thinking of getting him a 27 inch or would that be to big?

The new psu turned up today so I've fitted it. Everything comes on apart from the led fans, the lights work but they don't spin. Do I have to get lead to plug them into as I've only got 2 system fan slots on the motherboard but I've got 4 fans

If it’s like my motherboard, the fans don’t spin until components reach a certain temperature threshold, makes for a quieter system, prolongs the life of the fans, reduces power consumption and reduces dust buildup in the case.

Monitor size depends if he’ll be sitting right in front of it (24” plenty), or further back in the room (go as big as possible).

What is the motherboard? The fans should plug directly into the 3 pin fan headers on the motherboard. Since you only have 2 headers you will need a splitter to use all 4. I suggest max 2 per header. You can go into the bios of the PC to check what the fan settings are, best to find a guide for the specific manufacturer bios to do this.

Another options is potentially using a fan controller which would allow all 4 to be used without using the fan headers as they would all plug into the controller, albeit you would have to manually control the fan speed.

In terms of monitor size, like Teaston said, if he is close then 24 would be fine, further away you would want bigger. I will note that I wouldn't go higher than 24 inch for 1080p, I personally would want to be looking at 1440p at that point as the bigger you go the image quality degrades as the effective pixel size becomes noticable.

Ah. The reason I ask is that a player by the name of T_Easton sporting a beard boarded my train last night, I thought perhaps it was your rootin' tootin' alter ego.

MSI Trident, I'd get this if I wasn't building my own one currently

I'd recommend buying a prebuilt pc from: https://www.scan.co.uk/shop/gaming

if you're in doubt of the prices you can always copy the build and use this website to see how much it would cost to buy all the parts and build your self: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/

i built my own pc but imo its worth paying £100-200 extra for a prebuilt if you don't know what you're doing for peace of mind and warranty

Overclockers uk is decent for prebuilt too(customer service is good until something goes bad)

I would avoid Awd-it.co.uk (recommend it to a friend who bought a pc for £850, the build was rushed and pc arrived faulty.)
