I just spoke with my dealer who just called with bad news. One of his BMW reps just went to a BMW NA meeting and confirmed with me that the November builds will not have the updated nav. It's something they're saving for the new model production year around April.

Totally normal for a PW43 car to go status 112 by now. Once it hits 112, order is locked from changes. The PW43 car should move to status 150 (start of production) around 10/22.

If SA production add 4 weeks for additional transit. Could be less but often the cars are slow to move and often wait at SA port and Germany port for days. |

Right, but the issue was that he (or I) could have a dealer lock in a Production number in a PW45 slot today, and once BMW AG realized that I had paid for the car, it would get bumped to an earlier build week, if available (likely). Then it would go to 112 pretty quickly.

Well ladies and gents....mainly gents I'm thinking. The final confirmation I needed is now here and I'm afraid it's bad news. My CA drove it up the corporate chain and finally got the following notification which I believe had been posted here by another source. It's official, from BMW Corporate HQ: Several sites are claiming that the MY13 3 Series will receive this new navigation system with 11/12 SoP – this is not correct. The new navigation system will not be made available on any additional models in the US this year. It will, however, be rolled-out to additional models in the future." ('11/12 SoP' = November 2012 Start of Production) Honestly, I'm kinda relieved that I can just go ahead with my order and get the car before winter hits hard. I'm actually now at a PW42 build so I should get delivery by late November or early December.

Yes, that is the email BMW reps are sending to dealers inquiring about the Nav Pro. My dealer read me pretty much the exact same thing.
Plus the dealer training video backs this up. Well, maybe 11/12 production will include other product changes such as dampened steering. One can hope! |

Assuming you still require a 11/12+ production car, I think you are safe locking in a 111 status car for PW45+ by the week of 10/22. It won't change to 112 then 150 that quickly to still be 10/12 production. |

Well, even though it seems rather official (although stranger things have happened!), I'll still wait until ~Nov 1 to place the order. I still think there's a chance for some extra year-end incentives. Saving another $1K or so would lessen the sting of no new Nav Pro

Based on history, the holiday incentives typically include the 3 series for sales as well as BMWFS leases. They also typically allow cars in production, but not yet delivered, to be considered for the rebate. That means if your car is on the way, when the incentive ends, the dealer can contact FS before the incentive ends and reserve it for you (so to speak). However, there have been promotions where BMWFS does NOT accept incentives after the end date.
So, there is no guarantee. We will know more just b4 Thanksgiving. |

I don't think the F30 will get MY2014 in March/April 2013. MY2012 was super-short, and MY2013 just started in July. So, it makes more sense to have it run a full 12 months until July 2013.

"This year" could also apply to November production. After all, wouldn't November production cars be expected to arrive in volume in January 2013? The vast, vast majority of new-car buyers purchase off of a dealership lot, so that date is more important than the technical start-of-production date... That would be the optimistic view, and still consistent with everything we've heard so far. "No nav this year" would also be true, as it would only be arriving on cars expected to arrive January or later. Having said that, I'm a bit bearish personally, but I just wanted to point out there's still a ray of hope for the optimists out there! |

so, on Friday, I got this email from my CA.
"I’m sorry to report that I was misinformed. The November start of production is ONLY FOR EUROPEAN PRODUCTION three series. The US versions will not get the updated navigation system until production of the 2014 models. I personally spoke to the Product Manager for the 3-series for the US and he confirmed that the only 2013 model 3 series to get the updated nav system is the new Hybrid 3. We just got our first one of those in if you want to check it out." So....... Since they went ahead and had ordered my original build to come in and sell to another customer while I waited, and it was sitting on the lot, I called my CA and told him that I wasent going to wait. I told him to have the car ready in 2 hours......Im going to come pick it up for myself. Sooooo....im the proud new owner of a 335 m sport. |

BMW does allow some incentives to be "locked in" for up to 60 days, in theory to allow you to order a vehicle and still take advantage of posted rates/residuals/incentives. Filling out a credit applicaiton with FS should take care of this. Depending on if their motivations for these potential incentives - such as bolstering 2012 sales figures - they may state all vehicles must be delivered by close of business Dec. 2012.
In either case we'll see in November! |

I special ordered park assist on my 328 and I was given the infamous week 45 build as the first available. Could this mean changes to the assembly line at that time? and thus other changes such as the nav? I was told an earlier build was not possible with that option.
