ST XA Coilover review for F3x

Hello to all my fellow F3x owners. First and foremost, this will be a longer term review that I do followed by updates every few weeks (depending on support) on any possible problems with the ST XA part number 1822000F for the F3x platform but specifically was for my 2017 340i.
I've seen reviews on the ST X coilovers but none on the XA so thought I'd contribute. The X variant is basically the KW V1's but the XA is more so the KW V2's since it does have adjustable rebound. Also, the whole galvanized steel vs stainless steel does not really apply to me since I live in So. Cal and it never snows.
For those of you considering these, I actually had a different set up in mind before going with these. I originally planned for the H&R super sport springs due to their relatively affordable cost but decided against it after realizing the labor for install would have brought me closer to a set of coils. I then landed on 3 different conclusions. Bilstein B14, ST XA, or KW V1. Now I know the KW's are the same thing as ST X but you know, it's still KW. Main reason I went with the ST XA is because of the lack of F3x owners running it on their car. I've met lots of people running B14, B16, KW V1's, etc... Wanted to be a bit unique and figured it would provide me with the opportunity to share with the community.
Got these installed yesterday afternoon at European Auto Source out in Anaheim, CA. S/O to Kevin for hooking me up with a great deal and a very fast turn around time. Roughly 3.5 hours for both my coilovers and exhaust.
So here are my first impressions of it after spending 24 hours with the car. Coming from the F8x platform, my 340i handled like a boat. Lot's of body roll and the car never gave me the confidence in corners. However, after the ST XA install, which is set on their stiffest setting btw, it handles closer to the F8x with the adaptive suspension on comfort mode. That's the best way I can describe it. Virtually eliminated the body roll and the steering feels more direct. I get none of that "floaty" feeling anymore going over bumps. However, it is still comfortable enough to be my daily driver. I know it will never handle like an F8x but it's close enough that I'm personally happy with it. Overall, I think I made the correct choice going with these. A very good bang for the buck.
Currently, I have the ride height set to a finger gap all around. I will be adjusting the height as well as the stiffness to figure out the best all around setting for this car throughout the next few weeks.
Please feel free to ask me any specific questions you have or request any more pictures. I'll just go ahead and attach a picture of how it currently sits. No rubbing at all. Running 19x8.5 +35 and 19x9.5 +38 with the factory Goodyear run flats. 225 and 255.
If I can help at least 1 fellow forum member, it'll be worth writing this review
Have a good weekend folks.

Awesome thank you for the review and I'll definitely be subscribing. These are the ones I'm leaning towards as they now fit the F36. How much adjustability do you have up and down from your current lowering...looks super clean at that height! Thanks!

Appreciate that. I believe I have about around half an inch if that of more lowering from that current height. I'll be adding 3 or 5mm spacers for the front next week, dependent upon if I'll run into rubbing issues or not, I will be raising the car a tad accordingly. Already scraping on my driveway

Yessir in Los Angeles actually haha. Sure that wouldn't be a problem. If you're ever attending any local meets, give me a shout and we can arrange something

Car is sitting just right. Super clean too! Thanks for the post. This is an option I've been looking at for my F36. Were the ST-XA $1189 or $1399?

Post some pics if you get a chance! Thanks again!

It's $1189. Retail price is $1399 but the ST site has had a sale on these for awhile now.

Thanks for the detailed review! Your car looks extremely clean. I am also looking for the 763M style wheels right now.

Also, if anyone wants a set of ST X Coilovers please send me a PM. I have a friend who can get them for fairly good price. I might order a set for myself as well.

ST and KW are currently on nationwide backorder. I called KW headquarters directly and confirmed with them. Current wait time is around a month for them to ship from Germany. European Auto Source down in Anaheim was able to find just one set for me on the east coast, hence my 2 week only wait.

Update: Ordered the ST XA's for my F36 today. The German warehouse had these in stock and they will be shipped directly to my house in ~2 weeks. Part number: 1822000J

Thanks for the posting your feedback OP. It helped with my decision.

On the fence whether I should order these for 335i xDrive w/suspension issues. I'm just waiting on a price to pull the trigger but worried about the salt and snow in my neck of the woods.

So here's an update for all y'all.

Got a full alignment done. As you know, the F30's don't have much of front camber adjustment but the lowering of the car put around -1.6 degrees of negative camber on the front and I had my shop adjust the rear pretty much the same as the front since it was so out of whack. So, the moral of that story is get your alignment done and don't lag like I did. Car drove straight so I figured it was fine which is why I waited almost 3 weeks and drove 600 miles. Ended up with some gnarly outside shoulder wear on my brand new tires because of the toe and caster.

I also raised the car about quarter of an inch as well as dialed back the rebound 60%
Car rides much more compliant now. It's almost like there is no difference in terms of the ride quality compared to the OEM set up but of course with pretty much no body roll.
Although it is my daily, way too soft for me at this current setting, so planning on dialing it back to 100% rebound stiffness in the coming days.

Life of lowered cars....

Friends like to throw money on tires.... I don't like that's why I need coils that comes with camber plates.

OR just very minimal drop like 0.5" from m-sport suspension.

IIRC the B14's do not have rebound adjustment.
No updates as of yet, it's pretty much performed the same. No issues.
Haven't been able to drive my car much as of late due to COVID19.

Just called KW to inquire about the XA’s and was told it would take 6-8 weeks for them to deliver. Anyone know someone who has them in stock for an F32?

I got my ST XA's in about 3 weeks. Ordered from their website April 9th and received April 30th. Was weird their confirmation or tracking wasn't very good, as in non existent, but showed up faster than expected. They have 10% off right now until May 31st.

I have an F30 and was also given a 6-8 week lead time but received them in a just under 2 weeks.. maybe they are just saying that in case of delays, or maybe they found an extra set in stock. who knows, but I have them and a lot faster than expected.. purchased on the 28th, shipped on the 4th, received on the 11th.
