Lug nuts on oem wheels?
Considering replacing my oem lug nuts on my oem wheels with newer aftermarket ones. But I've read it may not be safe.
Companies sell lug nuts that fit the wheels specifically. So is it necessary to stay oem for safety? |

You need to make sure they are the same length.

I would also look at the shape of the bolt head to make sure they are the same.
When purchasing a set of aftermarket wheels for my last car I was surprised to learn the OEM lug bolt heads had a canonical shape to them, while the aftermarket wheel required a lug bolt with a more rounded shaped head. If I had not used the correct shape on the correct wheel, they bolts would not have seated properly when I swapped out the wheels.
