Turbo Inlet Recommendations
2013 F30 N55 and my turbo inlet is starting to fall apart on me. I’ve got 163,000 and what looks to be the stock plastic one so it’s lived it’s full life I think.
I’ve been looking for recommendations on an upgrade because if I’m going to spend $150 on the part, I’d rather get an aftermarket silicone or aluminum one for $200 and feel like I made an improvement while swapping it. Based on what I’ve read, CTS seems like the one I want but they are on back order. I emailed them and they think end of February they’ll have them back. MST is offered by KIES, but only version 2 which is implied not for stock turbos. I’ve seen recommendations for BMS on this site and they are in stock. They have 2 options (aluminum or silicone), both a little more than CTS. Not sure which is better, the aluminum normally costs more but is on sale for about the same price. Somebody on here reviewed a silicone one last summer, but didn’t mention they have a metal one (or maybe I missed it.) I also wanted to see if anybody had any other brands I’m missing or additional input. I can wait for the CTS, but if one of the two BMS options is considered much better I might pull the trigger on it now. a plastic or silicone inlet pipe will mitigate heat-soak much better than aluminum, thus provide better performance, although i'm not sure how much better in "real world".
i'd get the BMS or Turner if silicone FTP motorsport, MAD or a plethora of others are available in aluminum and they'll all work similarly. |

Some in depth threads on this:
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1765289 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1656337 The stock inlet necks down quite a bit with its inlet seal, I have seen aftermarket ones do this as well which would seem to be a restiriction. See this: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2088620 Side note, the PCV hose becomes very brittle, so be careful when you replace the inlet pipe or be prepared with a new one. |

MST V2 or BMS silicone. The BMS is the biggest.

+1 on BMS Silicone Inlet. I really like mine so far and it is one of the biggest on the market for inlet size.

Replacing the PCV after my a valve cover job is when I first noticed how degraded my inlet pipe was. The screw stripped the threads on the inlet pipe on reinstall. I hope the pcv is new enough I don’t need another one, but I might grab a reserve just in case. |

I’m leaning towards the BMS silicone after the confirmation here, appreciate everyone’s responses.
Not sure why BMS has an aluminum one that costs more, was that just their first version and this was the next? And that’s why they have them on sale now. |

The turner one Aloha suggested is on sale for $160, is the BMS silicone $40 better?

i'm value driven as much as most of us are, but $40 is not that much more to put the best part on. |

Post install update:
Very happy with this product. Buy the BMS silicone inlet with confidence. One thing I was worried about that ended up being a positive was the way the PCV connection is done. In the pictures online it’s not clear if it’s a plastic or metal insert, but I can confirm it’s metal and creates a really snug connection. Much better than oem plastic. I also really appreciated that it came with all the hardware I needed, 3 hose clamps and a small screw for the pcv. One small thing the hardware baggy could’ve used was a 8mm(?) nut that attaches the inlet to the turbo, but mine was thankfully still in good shape to reuse so I didn’t need it. |
