Hesitation and Rail sensor short to ground (code: 119002)

Driving on the highway today, around 70-80mph the car gave me two quick hesitations in succession, followed by a drivetrain malfunction: drive cautiously warning. This happened 3 times in about 3 or 4 miles.

When I got to my destination I was able to read error code 119002 - rail pressure sensor short to ground.

Doing some online reading it looks like either bad sensor, or possibly HPFP on the way out.

Right now my plan is to replace the sensor and see what happens, but wondering if anyone has advice on other possibilities to check.

It's not the pump.

The rail pressure sensor is a 5v sensor. .5v-4.5v is the usable range. Anything under .5v, or over 4.5v is an error condition. Short to ground implies you are under .5v. A failing HPFP has no way to make the rail pressure sensor send less than .5v

Hi, I also have an F30 with the B38 engine and I’m experiencing the same issue. When I try to start the engine, there is noticeable slow cranking, and the throttle response is limited to 3000 RPM and no more. After a long inspection, my mechanic told me to replace the rail pressure sensor. Until today, I’m still driving the car in the same condition while waiting for the replacement part to arrive.
And I would like to ask if you could provide me with any useful information.
This is what diag scan :
• Electric discharge valve, adaptation: Closed stop position not plausible
• Rail pressure sensor, signal: Short circuit to positive
• Intake manifold pressure sensor, signal: Short circuit to ground
• Boost pressure regulation: Shutdown as a consequential reaction
• Exhaust camshaft sensor, signal: Not plausible
• Drive system, safety function: Bus signal for accelerator pedal position value not plausible
