Cool Base Audio - Speakers only upgrade

Hi Everyone,

Speakers on my 7-year-old F30 have aged and needed to be replaced. I was thinking about what options I got here? I have installed sub and speakers in few cars (E90, E92) so I'm technically SOUND about this :P

Few things I'm thinking about:

1) Buy the same speakers currently fitted and replace them (Least preferred)

2) Buy some good aftermarket speakers with mounts and replace 4 door speakers (Most preferred)

3) Buy some good aftermarket speakers and under-seat sub with mounts and replace all 6 speakers. (Tempting)

4) Buy expensive plug and play speakers (Maybe underseat subs as well)

Another concern is will any of this provide some good difference in sound without putting an amp? Waiting for your suggestions here Also interested if you know good plug and play brand worth buying

Thanks in advance.

Which system have you got installed right now?

There were a couple of different BMW audio systems around at that time.

You may already have a reasonable amplifier.

I would suggest that fitting top end speakers without a proper amp to drive them is not the best use of your cash.

Can you not stretch to an amp with matched speakers?

Me again... What about a set of tweeters? You need to get units that are high pass filtered and you could tap into the lines going to the door speakers.

To me, if you are on a budget the biggest improvement for your money would be tweeters.

I'd get a far superior amp before I upgraded any speakers.

Thanks for the suggestion, my car got base audio-only so two speakers at the front and two at back only. I would rather look into putting up a amp

I would suggest the OEM Alpine amp/speaker kit as an upgrade.

There's very little out there in replacement speakers that are worth the money. These seem to be, but availability outside of the US is probably spotty.
