Buying my first N55 - 2014 F32 435i

Hi everyone,

Newbie here, so apologies if I've already done something wrong.

I've decided to to buy a F32 435i, and found one from 2014 with all the right specs, and 160.000 km. on the clock (around 100,000 miles).

I'm just very worried that it has a leaky valve cover gasket, which has resulted in kind of a big oil leak. The car/engine was running well, at operating temps, but under minimum oil level.

I don't know that much about the N55 engine, but in my opinion there's an excessive ticking sound.

Does this engine sound healthy (it drives good).

Thanks for chiming in.

I've read they are ticky, but I didn't think it was this much.

yes they say the valve cover gasket will crack and leak eventually I currently have 104,000 miles on mine and the only problem ive had is the oil filter housing gasket leaking at around 50,000 miles (yes I know my valve cover will eventually leak and my water pump will crap out soon too probably). Literally the only problem I have had.

Yes they are ticky sounding, but i've owned the car since 40,000 miles and it sounds the exact same 60,000 miles later. A slightly thicker oil might help a little bit especially if you plan on modding it and live in a hot climate.

Thanks. Maybe I shouldn't be so worried. Maybe I'll buy the drivetrain guarantee (around $1000) for peace of mind.

I'm definitely planning on modding it (Coil overs, down pipe, new exhaust, air intake, piping, body kit etc.) but tastefully of course.

Calling Denmark a hot climate would be stretching it.

Cool

Did you buy the car?
It could do with a cleaning, og the engine bay.
