Question with staggered set up
Hey all. Due to increases in power on my 340i it is time for me to get wider tires. I'm currently on 225 front and 255 rear 19" and I'm RWD.
Been doing some research but can't come to a true conclusion yet. All the wheels I want to get are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. Would it be ok to run 255/35/19 in the front and 275/35/19 in the rear with the wheel set up above? If not would 265/35/19 be better for the rear? Just think a one point difference would be weird and 285/35/19 would be more ideal for me but I'm guessing 285/35/19 wouldn't fit with the 19x9.5. |

I checked mine and it’s a 275 so maybe 285 might be a little tight

if your front offset is +(32-35), 245/40/19 & 275/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
on 8.5" and 9.5" i prefer 235/40/19 & 265/3519 as it's closer to OEM diameter and fits on 8.5" & 9.5" perfect. another option is an additional pair of rear wheels with an extreme summer performance or track tire like yokohama advan 052. stickier compounds offered by an extreme summer performance or track tire will have a greater effect on grip than width, however treadwear, noise and ride will be negatively impacted by it especially if you're vehicle is a daily. . I think with 9.5 I would only go as high as 275 which already looks badass enough compared to skinny stock rears. Whether you can fit 255s up front without rub or poke depends on your ET. I think if it doesn't poke, it would rub.

I second that - the first option is better for maximum grip and visual appearance of the rear, while the second option is better for handling and visual appearance of the fronts.

Appreciate you guys and all your input! You guys convinced me to drop down to the 275. So my set up will be 255/35 /19 and 275/35/19. Spoke with someone that has the same set up and has no rubbing issues with the front. Wheels will be vorsteiner 19x8.5 et 32 and 19x10 et45.
I know it's not ideal, but for now due to budgeting I will move my 255 rears to the front, but if I end up not liking it I will eventually change to 245/275 as u guys recommend for maximum performance. And like Surftoad said if these bad boys still don't cut it, will get a temporary drag street sticky tires as well on the side. |

In my opinion, the offsets of the wheels are perfect.
With these tire sizes, the fronts will bulge a bit, and most likely will not be really sharp in turn in. Heavy and busy steering, following the road imperfections, and high rolling resistance. The rears are perfect sporty fit. I suggest to spend the time to find the proper tire pressures - most likely inflating the fronts a bit more and the rears a bit less than usual will make the trick. |

So I ended up having to get different wheels, as the Vorsteiners are apparently sold out everywhere for F30 and got some HRE 19x8.5 ET30 and 19x9.5 ET42 instead.
Would this still be ok on this set up do you guys think? If ET is weird for 255 in the front I'm willing to go 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 as recommended above for performance but the only issue is my front ET does not meet the criteria of "32-35". Any thoughts? |

275/35 on 19x9.5 ET42 works great. 245/40 on 19x8.5 ET30 might rub a bit the front of the fender liner while turning. Shouldn't be a big deal, maybe you will not notice it.
You can reduce the risk with the tires, that are more rounded from the sidewall to tread, and runs smaller at the edge. The PS4S as recommended by alohasurftoad is exactly this kind of tire |

Just a quick update. Searched for hours yesterday and I couldn't find for the life of me a 275/35/19 in stock for PS4s. Seems like they're back ordered for months everywhere.. Do you guys think 275/30/19 would work with the 245/40/19?
If not then I might just go for the Michelin PSS 275/35/19 for the rear. |

i still think you ought to just do 235/40/19 & 265/35/19 but if you adamant of getting the rear wide then 245/35/19(25.8") up front will match better with 285/30/19(26.7") rear and will look better if lowered. the sidewall will be bulging a bit since 9.5" is min width required for 285. the links below has aps with 245/35/19 & 285/30/19 on 437M which are 9" ET29 and 10" ET40 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=290 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=321 . But it looks like I might of shot myself in the foot because I ended up already ordering the 245/40/19 for the front going for your recommended performance set up above, but did so before securing a set of the rear 275/35/19 PS4S. With the 245/40/19 PS4S front seems like the only option would be the 275/35/19 then? If this is the case most likely going to spring for the PSS as it is my daily. |

Recent months, Michelin had limited production and supplies also in Europe, thus many sizes were not available, and the prices increased. That also caused me buying Ferrari spec tires (and don't regret it). The situation is already much improved, the 275/35/19 are on stock here. So maybe all you need is just waiting for a while?
