BMW Scissor Jack advice?
I'm researching for the correct strong BMW scissor jack that will both:
1) fit into my F30's plastic jack points, and 2) stow in the trunk's under floor compartment. I carry a full size spare on long trips and need to also carry a small jack to change the tire. I found two different BMW part numbers for two scissor jacks that appear identical in photos. Both seem to have a 17mm bolt to turn to raise/lower the jack. Does anyone know the difference between these two jacks? A) 71126799169 B) 71126885765 BMW seems to have two different tools available to turn the jack bolt. This part number is an old fashioned "Z" shaped hand tool/lug wrench. 71121179953 And this part number appears to be a ratcheting type 17mm wrench. 71126769151 Any advice is appreciated that meets my criteria. Thanks! |

i have similar to this (yes i know, harbor freight): https://www.harborfreight.com/1-1-2-...ack-66907.html. believe it or not, the lifting point fit perfect in the jack points on my f30. it fit in the space below the trunk liner along with a slime kit.
This seems promising as well: https://www.amazon.com/LEAD-BRAND-Sc.../dp/B07CZGTXYH

Thanks for the Amazon tip. I ordered it to test it. It looks surprisingly like the BMW jack. |

For fun, before returning it to Amazon, I'm going to show it to a friend with a machine shop to see how difficult it would be for him to modify it to fit my BMW. I still need to measure to see how high the jack is at it's lowest point to make sure that it will slide under my slightly lowered car. For those looking for the Genuine BMW jack, I researched the part numbers. Below should work with F3x's. 71126799169 Scissor Jack, List $147.13 Found it for about $128 71126769151 Actuating Ratchet, List $23.22 Found it for $20. This is basically a ratchet with a built-in 17mm socket to crank the jack up and down. You could throw a ratchet and 17mm socket in the car, but for $20 this is thinner, one piece and stores easily in the box with the jack. If anyone already owns this Genuine BMW jack, can you please measure and post its dimensions. I'm interested in its lowest height when closed, highest height and length when closed to fit in my trunk compartment. Thanks! |
