POBEP and andreigbs
The PP Euro LX 0w-30 is available locally to me for great price, and with Canadian winter coming, it seems like the ideal choice, however, it doesn't list BMW LL-? on the bottle. is it still ok to use? thanks |

It does not have BMW LL- approval, but appears to be much better choice than BMW TPT LL-12FE anyways. Relevant MB, Porche and VW approvals are there, GTL based, German made. I went with TPT LL-04 for my X3d as it rarely sees temps below 0C (360 days a year above 10C). Previously on TPT LL-12FE it had turbine noises and questionable UOA results. When my excessive TPT LL-04 stock runs out I'll switch to PP Euro LX 0w-30 for X3d and PP Euro L 5w-30 for 335d & x5d

Valvoline 0w30 per the back of the bottle is recommended for LL-01, LL04, LL12FE.
Comes out to $8.16 a bottle. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Delivery estimated at the end of January, I ordered 2 boxes.

- it has no single BMW approval (recommended != approved) AND - covers 3 different BMW certifications in the same bottle?

Just look up the wording from some of the Big Commercial diesel engine manufactures, you will see all 3. Even then an oil that is on an Approved or Recommended list still has an asterisk by it. The oil manufacturer submits data to a company like Detroit Diesel and based on that Detroit Diesel will add that oil to their "approved" list. It is actually the responsibility of the oil manufacture to make sure the oil works. Just like Detroit Diesel, BMW has not "tested" all of their approved or recommended oils in their engines. It is really sort of a game at the end of the day. Again the use of LL01, 04 and 12 in this situation apply to diesel engines. I do know that there is some concern with these oils on gas powered vehicles. I am curious to see what is actually on the bottle when I receive it. I will let you know. It also checks the MB229.51, VW 507 and Porsche c30 spec boxes as well. Maybe too good to be true? https://sharena21.springcm.com/Publi...0-48df3793b338

That said, if it's officially approved as VW 507.00 spec, then that should be good enough. It's a low-SAPS/low-ash spec for VW TDIs. There are few N47's on this forum using a that spec of oil. In fact, the HTHS specs for both LL-04 and 507.00 are the same at 3.5 cP minimum.

(Also muting approved/recommended marketing topic) - I do not believe that LL01 is fine for diesel with DPF - LL04 works for both diesel (M57 & N47/N57) and gasoline (ULSG) (N51/N52/N53/N54/N54/N20/N26) - LL12FE is officially 2016MY+ for N47 - VW 507.00 is close or better than LL04 Hence, using above scale, yes the above Valvoline should work where LL12/LL04/LL01 is appropriate. I'd like to see UOA report (new and, maybe 8,000mi run) on N47 My N47 UOA results came far better after switch from LL12FE to LL04
