BM3 E30 Tune Fuel Cuts
Hello all! I am curious if anyone else is having this issue, I run the stage 2 E30 tune on my 340I 18 - ap intake, bm3 tune, ER catless downpipe, OEM exhaust, X-delete.
I notice on occasion under WOT pulls if I get close to redline probably around 6k the vehicle will cut power and start horrendously backfiring which I can confirm shoots flames out of my exhaust lol, this does not happen every pull though. Obviously with that not being good I did contact BM3, they want a few logs however I was curious if anyone else has experienced this, I feel it is the vehicle reaching its fueling limit however I don't know if it could be something else. I also plan on changing my plugs and gaping them to .022 this week, maybe that will help with the issue however I feel it does have to do with fueling. Any insight would be great! Thanks ! |

Post up your logs.
What's your E85 actual ethanol content? And what are you using to calculate the mix? I target e33-e34 and never get fuel cuts. |

Same for me. But on the E30 tune, that will cause timing issues. Have to run at least E30.

On MP's flash, I was running out of fuel with only 2 gallons of E85. I'd image on E30, you're well on your way to being limited in fuel. I can say however, that since my modified-G20 HPFP, I can run upwards of 5 gallons of E without that "wavy" acceleration feel and fuel cut.

I actually track my fillups to make sure it's the right amount. We're supposed to have 15.8 gallon tanks. However when I go into the hidden menu and calculate how much fuel is left, topping off ends up being closer to 15.1-15.5 gallons. That can play a difference as well if you're already aiming for E35+ with your calculator. But even when I've rounded up and ended up at E34, i was fine. |

PTF asked for logs, I asked for logs, Mike asked for logs, but instead he'd rather just start a thread so everyone can shoot in the dark and he's been online since, but not giving an update.
Anytime I flash, i run logs to make sure everything's right. Then, if I have an issue, I can run new logs to compare. It seems like a lot of BM3 users don't use the feature until an issue pops up. And, even then, it's hard to get them to do it. |

My apologies for the lack of responses! Was out of town, spoke with PTF. The cut was due to improper mixture of E30. Everything was running fine except for occasionally on hard pulls it would cut fuel and freak out.
I took the mixture down by half a gallon and since then it has not been acting up ! I also plan on replacing the plugs here soon however it was good to know it was not directly related to that. Ill also add I ended up testing the ratio which is oddly a pain in rear to do, I was running around e35 with my setup which would explain so. I also checked my local car scene to see if someone has done a test on my local speedway E85, I saw an average of 81% on Ethanol content. With the tank being 15.8 gallons for anyone wondering I do 5 gallons of e85 and the rest 93, comes out to around E32. I could do a bit less however I would rather overshoot E30 then undershoot it for the tune. Apparently just don't over do it lol |
