Headlight Manual Control

I have a 2014 335 with adaptive headlights but I would like to know if I can also code for the manual range control. (See #7 in below image of owners manual) I purchased this switch module but has anyone tried coding this?

I just downloaded 3 series manual from 11/15 and I do not even see that switch. What does it do?

It manually lowers or increases the range of the low or high beam.
If you have a lot of load in the back then the Front of the car lifts higher increasing the height at which the light is thrown which could blind oncoming vehicles. Manually lowering it will avoid the blinding of oncoming traffic.

Interesting. I would think if the Adaptive headlights were programmed right, they would not need intervention. I would also guess the switch placement for reach would not be ideal; but not having one, I end up using the stalk switch.

I guess this is normally only for halogen headlights. This is not intended as range control, but as Gabreings wrote.

Xenons have always stock automatic height adjustment not to blind others (this works also dynamically during driving). Thus I don't see any sense to disable this function.
Maybe there is FDL coding possibility? But why would you do this?

I believe you are correct. I definitely don't want to disable the adaptive (and hence auto leveling) function. However I would like to be able to electronically adjust the beam angle from within the cabin above or below the standard auto-leveling. Some VWs have auto-leveling and still allow you to raise or lower the beam angle from the cabin headlight control.

You are right. I think this is only in cars without Xenons.

The question is though if we can code it to accept manual override input as VW cars have.

If it is OEM part, I do not see why you would not be able to install and enable.

Both my F15 and F10 are coded for NGHB on LED Adaptive headlamps, but the F10 often seems to be angled down a bit more and to not project as far. A switch might be nice.

I have an issue with my adaptive lights in that they don't find level. Been to the dealer twice and I'm still blinding people. The low beams are pointed up at a rate of 2'' every 8 feet. This might be a good way to fix the issue but certainly not the right way. Maybe I can talk the dealer into installing this to make up for the grief this has caused. I don't think this would work for the halogens because they aren't motorized self leveling right? They are mechanically adjusted I'm assuming where self leveling are electronically controlled allowing this kind of function.
