Torque wrench

Can anyone please recommend a good quality manual torque wrench primarily for swapping my summer/winter wheels over?

I use the BMW one that was sold with the jack kit set, it's a good quality Heyco one and probably worth the price of the kit on its own, not much use I know, but if you find the jack kit anywhere, that'll be perfect.

This one! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-B...MAAOSwlMFZL~cz

That being said, it's still in production and the part no is 71126769683 so you should be able to order it from your local dealer. You won't get better for what you're trying to do IMO.

Yup, and it has so many plus points to boot. No worrying about getting the setting wrong, no fallback (BMW part) and top quality (Heyco).

I had that one, it went wrong after a couple of years and resulted in me overtightening a bolt on the suspension!

Must have been user error There are specific instructions to store the unit not completely un-torqued.

Mine's been fine, touch wood.

As I've never changed wheels before, this may seem a daft question but is anything else needed with something like the above or are the supplied converter plug things going to fit on the wheel bolts/nuts?

You will also need an extender bar and a 17mm 1/2" drive socket for the adjustable wrenches.

Obviously nothing else needed for the gen bmw one

I wouldn’t, but it could be good for people who only need it for changing wheels

I'm super lazy and know that my Bosch baby impact driver does 110-115nm so I bang them on tight with that then grab the bar and give a quick press to get somewhere near 140.

Might as well not bother with the torque wrench then! :

I bought one of these when they were discounted to £18. Does the job and wheels haven't fallen off yet.

Torque wrench is for other jobs really. I've got a relatively good guess what 140 feels like on the long bar. I also use it if I've had the car in the garage having work to check they've done them up okay.
