Recommended tune for b58
So recently purchased a f30 b58 and already looking at my options. But hearing different opinions across the board. Had a e90 under mhd and car felt great. Question is do I continue to stick to MHD or move on to JB or bm3.
Thanks for your time Cant wait to start building. |

Bootmod3 is what everyone is on now, very easy platform to use. When/if going custom tune you can send and receive tune revisions all in bm3. No other programs/software needed. Software simplicity is hard to beat imho.

I am on MHD and it's really easy to use, I think both platforms are very good it all depends on personal preference.

MHD and BM3 are both high quality flash tunes. I would disregard anyone who is strenuously advertising the benefits of either. Can't go wrong with your choice.
That being said, if you're already familiar with MHD and like their interface etc. you might like staying with them due to familiarity with their menus and layout.

I went with MHD solely because of the ease of use due to the MHD wifi adapter. I know BM3 offers something similar but it needs to be ran through the obd2 port into another device with a cable and I didn't want to deal with that. Also, MHD map flashes are like 15 seconds.

If warranty is a concern you should look at options very carefully. jb4 may be the winner from this lense.
I run bm3 and am very happy with it. The gains are transformative! |

There's also a difference in how the two are sold, which will change overall adoption speed and other factors as well. Being able to buy from your favorite reseller/parts supplier means those companies also endorse your product (they make money on it). Not saying this with any negative intent, but the only people selling MHD, are MHD. I almost went with BM3 because MHD did not have iOS support. I joined the facebook groups for both, and decided on MHD after talking to some of the custom tuners who work with it (Wedge, for example). I love the MHD software, was one of the first people to buy the "all maps" license as soon as it hit their webstore (before you could download the iOS app) and their wireless tune module also working with XHP so I wouldnt have to buy a separate flash module for XHP (plus their work with XHP and tune compatibility) was one of the reasons I chose MHD over BM3 as the transmission tune is the logical next step once you start flashing. |

You have lots of great options, just do your research before you decide to flash as BMW auto detects flash tunes now even if your service advisor is "cool". JB4 is a nice 50-state emissions legal option with solid performance and can be installed/removed easily without a trace.

This was after I mentioned "I almost feel like I should have went BM3 after reading the forums but I'm already wrapped into MHD costs with stage 1 flash". He said he's very glad I had MHD over BM3

BM3 for me is a much better solution than MHD. Its also cheaper in the long run as you can transfer and resell it if you switch cars. I can also use a laptop which I prefer for any kind of tuning changes and their support is like no other. On my iPhone I can now connect with the ENET cable directly too and to flash quickly its never been easier. I’m trying to learn to tune on it and do my own custom maps but there are so many tuners supporting it its crazy and I don’t think I have a chance to compete out there hahaha but its fun to do stuff myself and see things change.

Not sure who enjoys carrying a laptop or cords around for simple flashes, you are probably an outlier here and majority of people don't. MHD is also completely wireless hooking up to your phone, as is BM3 with the wifi agent. Not sure what issues you've had with MHD support? It also flashes custom maps within like 30 seconds, not sure what is difficult about that compared to BM3? As far as tuning, my tuner stated that MHD has more tables available for actual tuning which is why he prefers it and that ECUtek is better than both of them.

That’s all your tuner’ bs dude to get you to use whatever he wants you to use and make most money on. Sounds like you’re buying into it and it works well for you so what’s the argument? Tons of differences between the two. MHD plays catch up with BM3 all the time. Laptop matters because with example with MHD you’re doing changes with some old ass tunerpro software to make tuning changes that only works on pos virus and popups infested Windows but lets ignore that. Then you have to manually place the file somewhere or email to yourself just to try a change and flash. I’m playing with iDrive gauges and it’d take me forever to just get a change to load up with mhd. I don’t think you tried BM3 so you can’t have an honest opinion on it but whatever bro. Everyone that used both knows and I did use both just prefer BM3 today. No allegiances here its just what works nice for me today. My cousin has mhd on his pos E90 N55 lmao! He’s seen the light though and going B58 soon!! Ecutek has nothing for the early B58 and they can’t even flash from the mobile apps where they support. My buddy has it on the S55 with flex fuel but he’s pissed they’re stuck at below 29psi with boost all over the place he’s seen through the hype bs now. It seems to be working good on Supras though but even there you have to use that Windows laptop to do anything except log.

MHD has linear throttle mapping and XHP support.
Im pretty sure BM3 is playing catchup on those two important items. Regarding sitting in a car with your laptop...no thanks I remember F30 coding. Slow as molasses, no internet because you had to disable laptop LAN card to use the ENET cable. MHD map swaps with the WIFI dongle take like 7 seconds and I dont have to carry a laptop around with me like a doofus to do it either. Also.. find it ironic that you're asking him what the argument is while youre trying to argue how BM3 is "better". |

I've used Mission Performance, BM3 and MHD.
I prefer MHD. With the wireless adapter it is so convenient and fast. BM3 has some good features but the wireless agent was super flaky and made logging a pain. |

I guess you should just ignore other responses as to why you wouldnt want to use "all generic shit". The MHD black adapter, as far as I know, is the fastest on the market. Reliability is pretty important when a failed tune could brick your DME, or leave it stuck in a state of needed restoring by a professional. |

http://m.unichip-tec.com/bmw_enet_wi...s.html#pid=159 This is what they all label as their adapters but its generic bro and it works with any of these apps I mentioned. Why argue senselessly when you can also just have a reasonable conversation or I hope at least? |
