Kerma Stage 2 328D
Have any folks used the ‘Stage 2’ option with transmission tuning? Seems a bit sparse in info, but I am not quite sure what changes they were wanting to make with the transmission. Seems like the tune is a bit more aggressive than their stage 1 with the same components?

Yup, I've been running stage 2 for a decent while now (I'll have to dig though my logbook to get exact mileage/time), but it's been well worth it for me. The more efficient power transfer is most noticeable in city driving, and my fuel economy increased a bit over stage 1. Due to the increased engine output, it allows the trans to upshift and hold a higher gear (it'll let me cruise at 1000-1100rpm vs about 1500rpm before). Since it does allow the engine revs to get lower though, it takes a bit longer to get into the main powerband when stepping on it from that rev range, so it doesn't feel quite as smooth as stage 1.
Stage 2 doesn't really change the engine tuning much (so the engine isn't really making much more power than stage 1), it's really more tuning the lower rev engine characteristics to match the trans tune better down there, and tuning the transmission so that it is better matched with the new increased engine output, thus more efficiently delivers power to the wheels.

n00bkiller944 - https://kermatdi.com/i-2836-bmw-328d...available.html | looks like the link. Curious about the need for a laptop to do the transmission flash and what that would/will look like.

Looked through my log book, I've had stage 2 for a 14,548mi and just under 14mo.

I thought I didn’t until recently either. Either way “Stage 2” seems to be quite the price premium over Stage 1. Not seen too much talk about Stage 2 to figure out the worth proposition here. Not really a popular platform so I guess less comparisons.

FaRKle! , is this the only other commercially available transmission tune for our cars that you're aware of? I've been debating Kerma Stege1 plus xHP, but this seems like a great alternative...although does Stege2 come with customizable options for the trans tune, like xHP? |

It certainly feels like it. I've been mulling over doing a dyno test on my vehicle in RWD and AWD modes to see the difference so I guess I'll see for sure then (I haven't scheduled this though).

Yes! Farkle has lots of great youtube videos I plan on using when installing my suspension parts in the future! Im also just curious as far as power upgrades what most people are doing to their 328d N47 to make it a bit quicker.

A tune is the only real option. I’ve had the Kerma tune for about 10 months and love it, I think it’s definitely worth the money.

I will definitely be getting the KermaTDI stage 1 tune here shortly. This being my first diesel BMW, ive read a good bit about how minimal the power increase is in exhaust upgrades/down pipes, etc. Aside from the tune and an obvious turbo/engine internals upgrade, but at the end of the day it's still only an N47. If only we got the 335d in the states

It's hard to say since there wasn't pricing established when I purchased mine. That said it doesn't hurt to reach out to them and see if there's a program for existing customers.
