Long story short I went to get an alignment and they thought I wanted an oil change or got it mixed up. They used Mobil 1 5W-40 full synthetic which is a good choice for my climate, but I do not know what filter they used. I was about halfway through my usual interval on castrol 0w-40 formerly LL-01. I have no idea what 5W-40 that is from Mobil 1, maybe the "formula M spec" Would you change it to be safe or just leave it and enjoy the free oil change?
Edit: I at least changed the filter to a Mann one I had laying around. |

So you didn’t get an alignment? I do my own oil changes so alignment would be more important to me. Plus I use better oil and a man filter. I’d be bitching.

No they did the alignment and the oil change was free. The only thing that really sucks is I lost my oil I usually send off for analysis.

Keep it, swap the filter like you said you did. That's what I would do, they're a shop and oil changes on these cars really isn't rocket science. Does suck that you can't send it off for analysis but either way you did an early swap which won't hurt.

Since it isn't the correct spec oil I would run it for 3-5k and then change it. It looks like the put the Benz oil in. You could compare the specs of it and a 5W-40 LL01 and see, it's probably comparable.

That's about how much the car does in a year, so it wouldn't be anything different. The specs look pretty similar, not like I care about LL-01 for expired warranty reasons. It was nice to see the filter torqued down properly, and just checked the drain plug and same thing- no ugga duggas detected.
