Thoughts on roof wrap on Alpine White

Do you think the whole roof wrap thing is overplayed and a passing fad? I am seriously considering getting my roof wrapped on my AW 435i. I saw this rendering of a M4 and I started drooling. Of course the M4 will have a real Carbon Roof Panel.
Should I go for it ?

I'm on the fence about it. When its not CF, it reminds me of Benz too much (although not necessarily a bad thing) but I just feel like you see so many of them that come that way OEM.

That is why I am a bit on the fence too. Seems like its getting overplayed on the JDM side a lot too. I don't want to look ricey..LOL

IMO, its always best to side with what costs less. If you're unsure I wouldn't do it.

It's just like the M Performance vinyl on the side skirts. I like it, but I'm not sure about it for me. It's a bit too 'sporty' for the look I'm going for, I think. So... I'm just not going to do it.

Pass on the roof wrap.

As far as that render is concerned......well done! M5 reps are quite possibly the best wheel for the F30 outside of an LM.

Overplayed??2
Unless you park next to 5 other AW f30/32s with black roof, you're gonna be ok.
AW with black accents is the way to go.
Go for it. After a while, you can always take it off.

The f32 already has black accents on the the side vents and I have blacked out show line trim. You guys are right. It's a relatively inexpensive mod that can be undone.

Yeah but why undo it, if you think you might not like it it's money that could have been spent on other mods. Ask Presario, he has applied an reapplied his side vinyl at least 3x.

I almost went in for a CF roof wrap on my AW f30. However on doing more research, I figured out that there is still no product on the market that won't leave a black residue marking on the paint when you take it off -- especially if you have parked your car in the sun in hotter climates. So I passed.

I think it will look awesome. If you decide to do it, don't stop at just the roof, go for the B and C pillars too and perhaps the mirrors also. Then add a carbon fiber spoiler and a carbon fiber number plate. Finally add some light tinting to your tail lights and get some black wheels. That was my idea of awesome !!

Just do it (if you like the look). I did it on my 320 and also did the mirrors wrapped (couldnt bring myself to spend all that money on carbon fiber side mirrors that don't have any practical value - its a lot after exchange rate conversion down here in Malaysia). Looks great with my carbon fiber spoiler. who cares if its getting common or looks merc-ish, as long as it looks good and you like it.

i'm using Oracal wrap in a metallic black (instead of just gloss black), IMO looks great to me.

interesting. do you have close-up pics? the metallic or even a matte would look different for sure.

Damn, that looks good. I like the roof black, but the only issue is the antenna. Don't like the fitment after the vinyl is tucked underneath. I've talked to JNLBC about this, but if we can source a black sharkfin that's painted from factory, might be a good little mod.

As for if you're on the fence, I'd try to see it in person first before you do the mod. Rollinglower42 just did his roof and I'm hoping to see it up close.

As JNLBC stated, I am going to install my 4th set of M perf vinyls tomorrow. The first two sets were botched on install. The third was great until I thought it was too sporty for me. But now that it's gone, I miss it. LOL.

I'll try to take a pix, its a bit hard to get it to come out right in photos. basically its like gloss black but with metallic bits. I've seen matte wrapped roofs, personally I dont like them because I think they come off looking cheap/unfinished/dirty (unless your whole car is matte)

here's a shot, you can see it looks glossy from a distance. i'll try to take a close up shot.

i agree, don't do cf...then you're just faking it...gloss black on a white car looks great and is probably the best color to do it on
