USB-C Retrofit

Hi all,

I’m trying to replace the AUX/USB in my armrest with this newer USB-C connector. It has a FAKRA for data and another 4 pins which I presume is to power this. Does anyone know which pin is for what and how I could wire it?

TIA.

Newtis will be your best bet. I had a look for the G20 and came up with the following:

Pin 1 is for power for charging (hangs off of a 10A fuse)
Pin 2 is the ground
Pin 3 is power for the illumination ring from the Body Domain Controller

It's a bit crap for charging though, it says max current is only 500mA which for today's devices results in slow charging...

Not trying to steal the post but
So looking at wiring color it only will illuminate in orange, even tho it has another pin thinking can it iluminate in white also to work with ambient light? Tapping in to cup holder/ashtray light or footwell.

Thanks for the replies and help.

I just want to install this as it’ll be easier with all the USB-C devices.. not so stressed about charging but just to have that functionality and data transfer.

I don't want to be rude...but why?

This does not make sense, just get usb-a to usb-c cable.

Changing the connector doesn't change the rating of the connection, it's probably usb 2.0 standard and also has a max power output of 500mA for charging.

Just thought of keeping a bit more modern. Again, not too phased about the charge rate.

I’ll give it a bash and if it works it works, otherwise I’ll stick to the USB A
