Well...after delaying for months, I finally pulled the trigger and having my Borla S-type catback installed on Saturday. My questions are:

1) Does this exhaust come with accommodations for the "plugin" for the left side exhaust cutout?

2) If it does come with that, is it safe to not use it so that both pipes are open 100% of the time? Meaning....no codes or CELs will be thrown?

I will try to post both a cold and warm start recording of the stock exhaust as well as the Borla to hear the differences. FYI...I don't have a downpipe...

No it doesnt use that plug-in. its straight pipe. it has a fixture to place the actuator just to hold it, but i just left it on my factory exhaust and left the plug hanging. As far as codes i wont know personally, i have a JB4 so it deletes codes (i think) but i have read on other posts that it doesnt throw codes.

Thanks for the input. Pretty happy with yours...both sound and performance wise?

Yup! love it! i have the Challenge HFC downpipe also, so im not sure how it will sound with the factory one. Cold start is ugly imo, but so are most exhausts that ive heard that arent V8's, but after the motor is warmed up its beautiful!

Cold start is loud, but oh well, i havnt heard an aftermarket exhuast that didnt have a loud cold start. Cabin noise imo is perfect! u only hear it when ur accelerating, and its not annoying at all. no drone either, i can go 90 on the highway and cant even hear it unless i punch it.

Had the Borla S-Type installed yesterday and all I can say is wow. It totally transforms the driving experience. Fantastic growl upon startup as well as an exotic shriek at full throttle (especially under overpasses)! The burbles are MUCH more noticeable upon decelerating now (I have the MPPK, so that may help)...so much so that I had my stereo off the entire day just listening to all of the fascinating sounds.

It is not so loud that it's obnoxious, but definitely a noticeable step up from stock. Best $1000 spent in a while!

Yup! it burbles even in comfort mode for me, although i do have a stage 2 JB4. Its def. not obnoxious, if you install it yourself however make SURE u do not have it resting on the mid frame brace or it will vibrate the shit out of ur car lol

Did you experience vibrations at all rpm ranges? I feel a tad bit of vibration just in certain rpm bands in really high gears (like 1500-2500 rpm in 7th gear). I just assumed a little bit if vibration is normal with an exhaust like this, no? Or, do you feel zero vibrations (like stock)?

At that low rpm you may be getting a bit of drone.

OCCASIONALLY it will vibrate slightly at odd rpms, but only when i hit curve or something thats (i think) torquing the exhaust piping becuase its only about 1cm away from the brace on my car. but 95% of the time i get no vibrtions, only the occasional drone at low rpm's, mainly from the engine being cold.

^ok...that's what I think I'm experiencing....especially in ECO PRO mode due to the rpms. I guess if it was literally against that brace, I'd feel it ALL the time, correct?
