Drove the new Fiesta today

LFC has torn his ankle to shit so I went and collected his car from the academy this morning to repatriate it as he can’t drive for at least 6 weeks and it had been there since Sunday, thread here for anybody wondering who LFC is....

Anyway people say how good they are, I’d driven the previous gen and it was ages ago so don’t really remember.

This is a new 125ps ST Line, I don’t really drive cars this small anymore, it felt tinny and cheap being honest, the driving position is high, the gear change is average at best, windy windows in the back, infotainment crap! The steering is heavy for a small car and dead around centre, what isn’t?

I’ll be honest I was pretty disappointed, I just didn’t feel like Ford had moved on since the last time I drove one years ago.

Take it down a twisty country lane and wring out the 3 cylinder epic fun, I’ll be honest the last car I drove that was as much fun was my brother’s Elise S1.

Can’t wait to see the readings he gets from his black box

Missus has a Std 100 hp version we picked up a couple of months ago. Great little car I'll be honest. Also love the colour in blue wave.

You'd think they wouldn't call it an STD though...

It’s going to be inferior inside to a £50k prestige marque, but I think that they drive great and handle the rough UK roads better than mine. These cars can be bought via a broker for £16k so for that they are good value.

We walked in cold off the street and I mentioned car wow. He matched the price there and then and we paid around £16k or so. Took the car to a national trust place today, and the a1123 on the way to St Ives was so up and down bumpy you wouldn't believe it. Fiesta took it in it's stride. My car world be bounced upside down. For the money, I struggle to think of a better option for the money and for the wife.
Just make sure you get the 1.0 ecoboost engine not the 80hp old engine.

We have the 100 bhp version in ST Line trim and it’s a good car. The only real let down for me is the door trim and the window switches which are a bit tinny. The engine is very smooth, not blisteringly quick, but fine for everyday use. I find the sat nav and other similar features broadly comparable to my car. In metallic colours they look very good.

The strong point is the steering, suspension and handling. I wish mine was as good.

We paid under £15k through a broker last year, and I think that is really good value for a new car.

We've got a new gen Fiesta. I think it drives brilliantly. Ford do the best chassis/suspension/steering combos out there in the super mini and compact family hatch segments, imo

Another vote here. Mrs got one back a few months ago. I think it's brilliant for the money.
