Not sure if I could keep my F30 or get a new one
I currently drive and love my 2013 328i Xdrive (80k km), however, recently it suffered a transfer case failure (internal clutch pack problem). the car is out of warranty, and this sort of major failure at only 80K km on it has got my worried and skeptical on the long term reliability of the car. Now I'm considering what i should do, keep it or sell it for a 2018 .... I'm also looking forward to the G20 as well.
I really don't know what to expect or do Issues so far: -Thermostat change at 68k km -transfer case at 80k km Would love to hear about current, previous owner, specially cars with lots of kms. any thoughts, opinions are much appreciated. also new here and first post! |

for sure, I would not get a 1st yr G20 at all. somewhere in the mid to late 2nd yr of the G20 would be a better time to get so BMW can iron out the first year new gen problems & issues.

Totally agree with bobblehead. Don't get any first year new design production car.

sell it (I think you would be able to fetch around $21 - $23K, depends on options of your car) and then lease a cheapy car for 4 yrs and then get back on with the next gen G20 LCI or anything that interests you at that time.
Maybe lease a VW Golf GTI or R ? Last edited by bobblehead; 09-12-2018 at 02:09 PM.. |

I was in a similar situation. my 2014 320xi is out of the warranty. No problem at all though. Very reliable car. But I need a larger vehicle. After visiting 5 dealerships, i pulled the trigger. Traded in my 320xi, got a 2018 x5 with pretty good discount.

Nice ! I asked for the trade evaluation from the dealer and it was 5k below what I owe on it. Going to try to sell it privately
otherwise going to wait until next year the G20 also the dealer mentioned i can by warranty .... any thoughts on that? |

Yeah. The trade in is horrible. Check a few dealers. Some might have a slightly higher trade in. I really don't like the look of G20. Warranty wise, if your car has been problem free. Don't waste money on extended warranty.
